Once again, have lived here for almost 4 years and have passed this place many times, had no idea what was inside until we tried on Saturday night. We ate at the bar as dining area seemed crowded, and we actually prefer to eat at the bar as you can get the best service. "Roxana" greeted us at the bar and smiled, was very attentive and explained the menu to us. We didn't know it was actually Columbian/Peruvian food, and she explained the differences in the sauces, preparation, etc. We started with drinks, the sangria was a "bit too sweet", but the house wine was actually quite good. The margarita was average, but we just orered the "house margarita". Looking at the prices, we now know next time to go to "Happy Hour." "Roxana" told us the most popular items on the menu, but we decided to stick to the "basics." We started with Chips and Salsa, that also came with Queso. I am not a fan of green and red tortilla chips, but as it was the day before Christmas Eve. I understood. It was all very good and very fresh. We also tried the empanadas which were excellent! Everything was hot temperature wise (thank you!), the salsa at first seemed a bit too spicy, but the queso complimented it nicely. The tacos were very good & again very fresh. There were 2 slices of perfect avocados on each of them. Good size portions, enough for us to split. Roxana mentioned to us that there was live music that night and they were open later then usual, also mentioned a kareoke night which sounded like fun! We had NO idea that there was a store and bakery attached until Roxana told us about it. Wow, they have things I haven't seen in years and the pastries were phenomenal! We ordered 2 "to go" and they were AMAZING! Will definitely be back, most likely during happy hour as the prices add up quickly. I would have given it more stars for atmosphere, but it can get very loud at times. Thank you so much for a great evening! Oh, and as I am allergic to MSG I always ask before ordering. Roxana said "no MSG" and she was absolutely honest in her answer! No MSG! Thank you Roxana and all staff! Will see you again! p.s. The plantains...
Read moreWe were excited to eat Peruvian food because Florida has some good Peruvian food. We should have known immediately upon arriving because it is one of those combined restaurants… Colombian and Peruvian food. Meaning, they probably can’t do either well. Whatevs though, we were starving as we’d been flying all day so we stayed and ordered. Took forever to get service and once the drinks came out she forgot to bring any of the waters, some of us had only gotten water and not soda, so we were super thirsty as we waited. We finally ordered our food and it was disappointing at best. I ordered carne a la parrilla. The carne “steak” was literally so flavorless. I ate a couple bites cause i like to get my protein in; but left most of it even though all we had had that day was plane snacks. My sister ordered the bistec a lo pobre, which uses the same steak as my dish and she left hers also. My hubby ordered the jalea which was probably the best thing our entire 12 person group ordered. The empanadas are Colombian style and fried, so don’t order if you’re expecting Peruvian ones. My brother ordered atroz chaufa and causa de pollo and both were subpar. The chicha morada was a tart, and they ring this loud a cowbell for birthdays which distracts your dining experience. The kids’ menu says that kid’s meals come with cookies (probably from their bakery)but we were given fruit snacks. When our kids asked the waitress about their cookies, she told us that they didn’t have any and when they don’t they do gummies. It would be helpful if the menu said something like… based on availability, etc. Anyway, we didn’t get any silverware and the waitress wasn’t easily accessible so we had to grab our own silverware from the empty tables behind us. Some parts of the kid’s meals were forgotten. I know we were a large group; but still. We mentioned the tasteless steak and they were gracious enough to refund us one meal and throw in a couple slices of cake. Although we appreciate that they tried to handle it well, I would not recommend this place at all. If you’re looking for good Peruvian food; this is not...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at La Mordida restaurant in Clearwater, and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately made me feel at home. The decor was vibrant and colorful, adding to the overall experience.
As I perused the menu, I was delighted to see a wide variety of dishes to choose from. From traditional classics like empanadas and arroz con pollo to more unique options like ceviche and arepas, there was something for everyone. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the generous portions that were served.
One thing that set La Mordida apart from other restaurants was the live music that was playing. The band added a lively and festive touch to the dining experience, making it even more enjoyable. Additionally, the guacamole was absolutely delicious - fresh, flavorful, and the perfect complement to our meal.
The service was also top-notch. Our server was friendly and attentive, making sure that we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The food was brought out promptly and was presented beautifully. I could tell that the staff took pride in their work and truly cared about providing a great dining experience.
My only complaint would be that the restaurant was a bit loud for my taste. It was difficult to carry on a conversation at times, as the noise level was quite high. However, this is a small issue in the grand scheme of things, and it certainly wouldn't deter me from coming back again.
Overall, I had a fantastic dining experience at La Mordida restaurant in Clearwater. The diverse menu, good prices, generous portions, excellent service, live music, and delicious guacamole all contributed to a memorable meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious cuisine in a fun and lively atmosphere. I will definitely be returning...
