If I could give it zero stars I would. We placed over a hundred dollar to go order, including tip, and the establishment accused us for not paying for the entire tab.
When we noticed one of the plates missing in our order , we called ahead at the Nopalitos establishment located on 310 S Mesquite Street. We politely called the location and over the phone the employee was very understanding about the situation and to come down to the restaurant again to pick up the missing plate with no charge.
Upon arriving to the restaurant, the two women at the drive thru were very defensive and accusatory towards us. Claiming that we didn't pay for an entire hundred dollar tab, when we disputed this, they changed it to that we didn't pay for the missing plate because it was never written down on the order. This is clearly an error on the restaurant's part and we're trying to push the blame onto us.
There was a bit of back and forth, one of the women at the window clearly being agitated about the situation, gave us the plate with no charge for the sake of stoping the "argument". We were not arguing and very politey explaining that we placed a large order and there was a missing plate. Don't come to this restaurant unless you want to be accused of being a Theif. Being Hispanic with my own local business, I'm disappointed with the lack of hospitality and customer service.
Also also, she didn't give us the salsa and chips she promised us...
Read moreI have loved this restaurant for over 35 years. But there is only one thing that I've ever eaten there - their chile con queso. It is the best in Las Cruces IMO. The way it's served makes it a complete meal for me. But sadly, just like everything else, what once was a very satisfying and affordable meal is now expensive. I rarely eat out anywhere anymore and haven't been here for awhile. But I'm sure the chile con queso is just as good as ever and their other food must be also. The parking lot is always full at meal times when I drive by.
10/26/22 UPDATE: I ate there on 10/24/22. I had my beloved chile con queso. Yes, it now costs $9.00. But it tastes just as good as ever and they now give at least twice as much as they used to. I had to ask for a doggie container to take some of it home. I used that today mixed in with some canned soup. Delicious! The friend that went with me on Monday had relleños. She said they were very good. So I still think this is one of my very favorite Mexican restaurants...
Read moreNopalito Restaurant has been part of the Las Cruces eating scene for over 60 years. I use to dine here back when I was a student attending New Mexico State. For me it served as a bridge of years past and though it has since added a few modern amenities like large flat screen and a proper hostess station it is basically the same place as I remembered.
The service was great and the waitress was very attentive. The food though, in my opinion, is not the best of the best, Nopalito Restaurant serves better quality food than a lot of the new restaurants I have tried in the area and at a fair price. The red chile was good and the taco was top in the combo dish I tried. The meal precursor was a copious amount of wonderful crunchy homemade corn chips with a bowl of really savory salsa verde that was indeed made fresh.
The Nopalito Restaurant offers a genuine taste of southern New Mexico cuisine in Las Cruces and is worth a visit for those seeking...
