Ok, imagine this: you're sitting at home on a Friday, scrolling through the 6 different streaming services you use (2 of which you pay for and the others you "borrow" from family and friends). You've scrolled through the same list now 3 times and can't find anything to watch. After you do this for another 3 hours, you call it a night and head to bed early, defeated by the big media companies who have failed you yet again in your desire for entertainment. What you should have done instead was get over to the evening show of Hello, Dolly! at LCCT! There, you would have found yourself laughing with the rest of the audience as you watched Dolly dole out her wisdom. You would have immediately recognized "Put On Your Sunday Clothes" as the WALL-E song, but then been impressed by the young actor playing Cornelius (who does a fantastic job and acts with his whole body). The scene changes from a city street to the entrance of Irene and Minnie's hat store will be seamless, and you'll had believed you were watching the hijinks unfold inside of said store. You might have even shed a tear (or was it dust in your eye?) as Dolly contemplates with self reflection. Afterwards, you'd have exited the LCCT, impressed with the performance of the actors and ensemble wondering how you went this long not attending a show at the LCCT. So next time, dear reader, stop flipping through endless pages of poorly produced streaming series and go watch something live and in person at the LCCT in Las Cruces, NM! If you can make it there in the next couple of weeks (ends August 25th, 2024), make sure you catch...
Read moreMy husband and I attended The Diary of Anne Frank last night. The production was amazing! The actors nailed their parts! Mia Bergson, who played Anne Frank, was perfect! Although I’d read the book and know the WWII history, the shock of seeing the huge yellow stars on the characters’ clothing was very moving. The very limited use of a small screen to the side of the set was not at all distracting but added a few historical facts which would have been impossible to add to the script. The audience tended to be middle age and older which is a shame because younger people should take advantage of this easy way to learn valuable history which is relevant for this day. This production is definitely appropriate for ages middle school and up. Cheers to the...
