I’m really disappointed with our recent experience that occurred this morning. The issue that occurred wasn’t with the employees there, they have always been phenomenal! The issue was with the older man who is the owner. I brought my daughter in this morning since she wanted to get some doughnuts. We ordered and paid, I then went over the station where they have the essentials to pep your own coffee. As I was preparing my coffee to my liking my 4 year-old daughter was waiting for me, she then walked over to the fridge and grabbed a snapple juice bottle and looked over at me asking if I could buy it for her I told my daughter “Please put that back, we’re not buying that” she didn’t say anything and stood there staring at me. Then the owner shouted at my 4 year-old “Put that back, you gotta pay for that!” in a unnecessary rude tone. I was in disbelief about what I just heard. Other customers that were patiently waiting to be attended were just staring once the owner said that to my child. I repeated myself to my daughter “Please put that back, you have your chocolate milk in the car” my daughter then put the juice bottle back and closed the fridge. The owner once again said “Put it back, put it back you gotta pay for that!” in a stern voice. I didn’t say anything due to the reason that we have NEVER had a bad experience here until this morning. My thing is let me take care of MY child! For an older man who’s the owner to speak to my 4 year-old in a very stern and unnecessarily rude tone - and for no valid reason. My daughter wasn’t doing anything wrong or disruptive, just asking me her mother if I could buy her a snapple juice bottle. As a parent, I found his attitude completely uncalled for and uncomfortable. There’s a way to speak to children respectfully, and this was definitely NOT it. It left a bad impression especially since my husband and I have been brining my daughter here since 2023 when we first moved to Vegas and she’s always has been well behaved and respectful when we come into the ‘doughnut shop’ as my daughter calls it. All I can say is a little kindness does a long way - especially when dealing...
Read moreI happened to be working nearby and have had this place on my list to try for awhile. So I must go, to continue my quest for delicious donuts, especially maple bars/long johns.
Admittedly, I arrived late in the donut day but found a decent variety to choose from for my first Dee's experience. I asked if there was anything in particular that they were known for or that was an absolute must to try.
Due to a language barrier and masks muffling voices I couldn't quite understand what he said. So I went with my gut and tried a half-dozen of my go-to donuts. I noted the large selection of bottled drinks though I was set at the moment. There was also 1 lone kolache that I was told was filled with sausage and cheese. (Not a fan.) And I was tempted by their lovely croissants but held my ground. The overall prices was not shockingly high or low.
The donuts were sampled and enjoyed by all but my final judgement is similar to another place I visited recently. The dough was very good with the raised donuts feeling light and flaky with a slightly crunchy "crust". The toppings were lackluster, though. Amounts were skimpy, to me, and the actual flavor was just not there. I felt as if I'd eaten a hint of maple donut and that made me sad. I can't say I'm going to visit again but if someone were to offer me one, I probably wouldn't...
Read morePicture perfect donut house, open early and always fast friendly service. One of the few true donut shops in the northwest, the line can seem a bit large and intimidating during peak times, but don't let that stop you. The owners of this shop are always prepared to move the line with multiple staff members helping customers check get everything they want at their own pace, and they're still able to move the line quickly. Kudos for the production line with solid customer service. They are open early, and have pleanty of fresh donuts made fresh daily. Sorry, no cronuts that Ive found yet but they do offer some really good stuffed croissants. My favorite is the ham and cheese which I get every time I order a dozen donuts. I like taking my kids here every few weeks just to sit down and have a donut. The coffee is surprisingly good although it would be amazing if they had an espresso machine. Hopefully someday they do. Mean time the coffee and the creamer and the donuts and the simple setting is everything that The Donut Shop should be. They're now opening a second location and that's good news! Highly recommend.
UPDATE: 2022 April
Still a fantastic donut house reliable for fresh made sweets 🍩 and coffee ☕️. Better than supermarket attemps at baked versions. Get down there soon and get...
