The last time I visited this restaurant, I was about 10 years old, back in 2002. That’s how long it has been around. This was my first time returning since then, and I wasn’t sure what to expect.
When we saw the menu, I was a bit concerned. As of February 2025, entrées start at $22. However, as you can see in the photo, the portion size is generous—easily enough for two meals—so $11 per meal isn’t too bad.
Some say great service is a big part of the dining experience, but unfortunately, that aspect fell short. It took about 10 minutes for our waiter to approach us for the first time, and that only happened because he noticed me making eye contact as he walked by. After ordering, it took another 15 minutes to receive our drinks and chips with salsa. Speed definitely doesn’t seem to be a priority here.
Later, my dining companion had an issue with their beer glass (one of those draft dispensers that fills from the bottom). Instead of simply assisting, the waiter took the opportunity to lecture and lightly ridicule them about how it works. Personally, I found it amusing, but my companion didn’t.
When the food arrived, it was good—no complaints there. But after eating, we waited another 20-30 minutes just to get the check, practically having to beg for it. The most comical part was that the manager came to ask how our food was. We were polite and said it was good. Though she had left the table before we could finish our sentence which involved asking for the check. You know, since we haven’t seen our waiter in over 30 minutes. Maybe 30 seconds later the waiter came to ask the same question, same response but was gone before we could ask for the check. My companion and I found it comical yet annoying. He showed up 5 minutes later and we finally got the check, it was a relief to say the least.
Overall, it’s a nostalgic spot that’s been around forever, serving solid food, but the service could use some serious...
Read moreWhat can I say, the food was really good, the service wasn't. We arrived to an empty waiting room to be told that we have to wait 30minutes for a table, when I looked there were many open tables. After watching a party of 6,that came in after my party of 5, seated before us I became miffed. When we were finally sat (at a table that was empty since we had arrived) it took a while before anyone came to our table and then it was a bus boy bringing chips and dips, it took our server 10 minutes to take our drink order. Our server was not that friendly, very short and impersonal with us. After placing our orders our server disappeared, someone else brought our food to the table and when I told him that my mother and I didn't receive our soup appetizers he didn't know what to do, our server then showed up to say "we can still bring it", really who does that. What should have happened was an apology with a discount to my bill. All that and 4 of the 5 drinks were still empty on the table. Did I mention that we were there for my mother's 72nd birthday. What this place needs is a total retraining of front of house staff, from top to bottom. Very disappointed, I believe the only reason this place is still doing business is because of the food and that there is really no other Spanish food restaurant close. I would rather drive the extra miles to go to Lindo Michoacan for the far superior service and great food. I will not be going back to Michoacan to waste money for inferior service from start to finish. If you do go, please ask to be sat in the area not served by Cesar, he isn't very good at...

Service is excellent and the food is so good.
I always pick a cut of meat, sauce and side to customize my meal. Everything is cooked perfectly.
Reservations are a must as any customer should be prepared during these days of Covid.
I've looked back and I've dined here multiple times in the past few months and I'll definitely be back.
If you're in the area and looking for an amazing meal, visit this restaurant!
Michocan is some great Mexican food in the NW part of town. I have had mostly good experiences dining here over the years. This time we did the Sunday brunch which also offered all you can drink as well.
I recommend attempting to make reservations or preparing for a small wait depending on when you go to Michocan.
The food choices were good for brunch but the standout was the omelette station. I really enjoyed that we placed our order at the table and it was brought to us. It seemed like a smaller buffet compared to other Mexican brunch buffets in town but worth the price.
I would love to see a taco station or some dessert choices but for the $15 price, it was worth it. All you can drink margaritas, mimosas or bloody Mary's was only about $7 or $8 more.
We will definitely be back to Michocan for dinner and...
