We randomly decided to try this place early in the morning on a weekday. My husband and I had basically given up on bars altogether, but we are so glad we found this gem of a place and canât wait until we can return!
From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted with an overwhelmingly positive energy coming from the bartender. He was so friendly right out of the gate, immediately asking us our names, laughing and joking with us, and taking our order effectively and attentively. He introduced himself as âFishâ, and immediately began talking to us and treating us like we were all long time friends, instead of just another tip. You could tell this guy really loves his job. He continued to refer to us by name every time he asked if we needed anything, and as a couple more customers trickled in, he knew each by name and was extremely friendly with everyone. We believe his amazing, positive energy uplifted our own, Allowing both me and my husband to both hit for several hundred dollars each on Keno, which we really needed to happen for us at the time.
The food came out, and since it was early morning, we both ordered breakfast - eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, and pancakes. I am not joking when I say that this was one of the best breakfast Iâve ever had. It was so good that when we were leaving and cashed out our winnings, we were able to pay it forward and take good care of our new friend Fish, and were happy to throw the cook a bit of money for his pocket as well. Fish went to the back and let the cook know, and the cook then came out and thanked us, and was very kind and appreciative. He didnât need to do that but it was very nice to thank him for the great meal in person.
We have found our new favorite local spot, and keep talking about how excited we are to go back very soon to visit again with our new friend Fish & once again order our favorite breakfast. This place deserves 20+ stars, I canât say enough great things about this...
Read moreWell, tough one. I was resistant to try this place for awhile because I prefer small local businesses over larger corporate owned chains, but after going to this shucks, I dont care who owns it, this place is awesome. When the first round of oysters came out, we were so excited, we forgot to take pictures. The ceviche loaded oysters were nothing short of masterful. We ordered several other oyster types, but i encourage you to go on your own and try them all, they were all great. (The oyster shooters too)
We then ordered more food, and everything was excellent. Clams, Lobster Fingers and Poke and not one morsel was left after we were done. Took all self control not to lick the plates lol. However, there are lots of great places to get food in Las Vegas, so the food alone isn't enough to warrant 5 stars. Here are a few other things.
Attentive staff. I mean when our beers were down to 1/4th left there was someone there offering another, or an interesting recommendation, for what would go great with the next course in the meal. Friendly, attentive but not instrusive. Its a very subtle nuance that is difficult to master, the two guys helping us were great.
Decor, design and comfort. We sat there for 3 to 4 hours, and felt cool, comfortable, happy as a clam, pun intended. Many restaurant chairs and tables are designed for about an hours worth of comfort, but three hours in, and we were set to stay another 3. If you have read my reviews in the past, you know I am big on lighting, Shucks tavern has it dialed in just right.
I encourage everyone to try this place, hopefully you love it as much as I do and that you go back often as i plan to do, and that encourages the owners to open more. It really is that good. I usually end my reviews with some type of advice for the management, to improve things, but in this case, I got nothing, other than to just keep doing what you're doing, and thank you...
Read moreA reprieve! What a great place to visit just 10 minutes off the scene, while not being far from the scene. A very relaxed atmosphere, not crowded, formal or stuffy and not overly lit.
Our service was impeccable, and the Ultimate Bloody Mary is all well worth it. I'm a black belt Chuck Norris bloody mary connesieur and this was the best ever! I'd bathe in them.
I took a difficult audience, my older mother who was craving oysters (as was I) and my cranky husband who hates both seafood and lines.
My mother and I had a great plate of oysters, other appetizers and really creative salads for our main course and my husband proclaimed that was the first steak he felt he didn't need sauce for (he's old school like that lol).
The bar had video gambling if you're into that, and the booths were all chill.
We ordered an array of items, sampling everything from drinks, to oyster shooters, to appetizers and dishes; weren't disappointed by any of it. My husband loved the lamb chop appetizer dearly, and talks about it every day. My mom raves about the lobster salad.
Again, the service was impeccable and this place was great for a reset from the cray of the Vegas scene while still being distinctly very Vegas.
I discovered this fine joint on the way back from the Hoover Dam using internet reviews and wasn't led astray! They were about an easy 10m from Freemont St,...
