I canāt believe Iām writing a negative review the first day of 2025 and at one of my favorite breakfast spots, but here I am. I left a 5 star review last week for the Jagged Fork in Dearborn. I mentioned in my review that I donāt see how they got a 3.8 out of 5. I found out today. Itās January 1st and restaurant is at capacity. I met a friend from the east side for breakfast so we decided to go to Southfield location. I have been to this location a few times without any problems. I ordered the exact same thing I ordered last Thursday at the Dearborn location, the chorizo skillet. From the time I put my name on the waiting list to the time I actually got my food was two hours. Iām not complaining about the wait time because itās normally worth the wait. When I got my food, I can physically see the meat is burnt. I showed the waitress before taking a bite and told her I was too hungry to have them do it again. However, on my third bite I just couldnāt take it. The burnt meat was taking over my taste buds. So I called the waitress and asked to speak to the manager open to this point. The waitress did an outstanding job, but when she came back to the table, she informed me that the manager was too busy on the line and couldnāt come speak to me, but she said that she would take the meal off the bill. They couldnāt make it over because the restaurant was already closed, but they had a table of six that had just sat down so they were still cooking their food. Thereās a few problems here, one you can physically see the burnt meat so why would you serve it in the first place? Second, the waitress attitude completely changed and blame me for not allowing them to make it over again when I saw the burnt meat, like it was my fault. This is not how you take care of a customer. I hope someone from jagged Fork reads review so they know the doās and donāts for customer service. I had waited two hours total and didnāt want to send the food back, but I hadnāt tasted it yet because I didnāt have silverware. I didnāt know it would taste that bad and I couldnāt see finishing a disgusting dish. I still have the bad taste in my mouth as I type this review. For a manager to say Iām too busy to talk to a customer. Should be considered taboo in the restaurant industry. I felt the waitress comment about it was my fault for not letting him make it over again was unprofessional. I didnāt even get an apology for the food for the inconvenience. At the very minimum they shouldāve at least offered me a voucher to come back. I didnāt cook the food. I didnāt plate the food and I didnāt serve the food but itās my fault that I didnāt send it right back. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. Jagged Fork is my favorite restaurant for breakfast and Iāve been at least a dozen times in 2024. I will continue to frequent the restaurant, but I absolutely will not go to the Southfield location. When you know the food isnāt right, you should never serve it in the first place, but because they were crowded and rushing they decided that they will get the customers just anything out the kitchen if their business model is to drive more business to the restaurant they failed in this task Miserably. All I can say is if they knew better they would do better. The thing about this review is I doubt they will change this horrible behavior. The owner management and staff should be embarrassed for just bringing food to the table that they know is not suitable for consumption. A customer should never be told that a manager is too busy to speak to them. You canāt be so busy that you canāt address the issue face-to-face with the people that make it possible to keep the doors open. I wish I wouldāve taken a pic. I wouldāve posted that because everyone could see the burnt meat. Now I can see why they are 3.8 star. Not just a bad food, but the waitress that went from a five star to a one star in a statement that didnāt need to be made. More training is needed, and people that take pride in the food they serve is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWell I don't quite understand all of the hype. We had to wait about 35 minutes. The dining area is outdated. Looking with very uncomfortable wooden chairs. I was really out done with the mandatory 18% gratuity and 15% for takeout. Like who does that? The jagged fork! My food was just very supper. It wasn't anything that I would purchase again. I got the chorizo skillet. It was okay but it was just missing something. I mean even the skillet wasn't a skillet. It was like plastic not cast iron š¤ My pancakes I don't even know how to explain this but when you went to cut it they were kind of rubbery. Yeah that's how I can explain it. They were kind of rubbery so like when you would try to cut it, it would pull together how much prefer the original house of pancakes pancakes. I went here with family. I'm with not say that I would recommend this place but it looks like the people love it because it was very crowded in a long wait. Oh let me not forget the ungodly climate in there. Perhaps they had the air condition up for when we had to really hot and humid days, but the temperature on the inside had to be a good 50°. Maybe I'm exaggerating but it was 60 ° for sure and fan was constantly blowing which made you cold and your food cold. Perhaps that's how they get you to get out really quick because you know black folks don't like it that cold. I said that I would try it again maybe but I don't really see me coming back here. I mean I would recommend Rochester brunch house the branch house in Dearborn hey but take your chances. It was food and okay nothing special. My mom enjoyed her corned beef hash skillet and it was real corned beef so that was a plus. Other than that or one of the staff members of the manager did turn the air condition down which helped. I really appreciate it. That and the other staff member lied and said that it was preset and that they couldn't do anything about it š¤Ø. I didn't even take any photos because it wasn't aesthetically appealing enough to you. Don't take a photo really. Just look like something you would get out of Coney Island. Just what I got. I didn't get any wonderful pancakes or anything like that. I did see some pretty French toast or something like that, but you'll have to check out somebody else's photos. Good luck...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI thought the place was amazing..1st time there .the food is great .my service was even great..my only complaint was the gratuity and ethics behind it...I ordered a meal NO PORK they brought pork...the waitress was amazing..she told me about it..went back..got us another meal .like she did her job..no complaints...the bill was $72. I understand tht it says on the menu gratuity already added but I didn't even notice it..I was only looking at food ..so.. I thought our waitress did a great job so..I told her twice to keep 20 for herself....like..I was ALREADY gonna hook her up but some ppl don't see tht on the menu..they r just looking at the meals and for her to take tht extra 20 on top of the gratuity already added was just an act of greed and it's tasteless. .I understand it's right before Christmas but the restaurant doesn't pay your salary..ok..they give you like $5.00/hr..and it's the customer who's actually paying all your bills..WE..THE PPL PAY YUR WAGES....so.. knowing this..like wouldn't it be just ethical to say hey you know gratuities already added on this just so you know.... Because everyone doesn't see that stuff we're not paying attention to it... Both times when I offered the tip you got very quiet and you just took that money without saying one word...I thought it was greedy ASF.. selfish..and bad ethics...like..I ALWAYS LEAVE great tips.. and if... u would of told me..HEY.. the gratuity is already added..I would of still left u maybe 15.. because I appreciated what u did with the pork..but it's just tasteless...tht greedy stuff..it'll get ya in the long run..I'm not saying u got bad morals..but .tht right there was ABSOLUTELY BAD MORALS..I won't go there again because it's so petty .20 dollars......I just think at tht point your scamming your customers...yes .it's on the menu but it's scamming because u know everyone don't...
