My wife and I have been exploring our new home town for almost a year now & there are still so many hidden gems to be discovered! I’m glad I woke up with one thing on my mind this Sunday morning - a fresh warm lemon filled donut. And so began my search - the bakeries & pastry shops I’ve been recommended by experienced Laurelites are CLOSED on Sunday. Okay… fair I guess
My search brought me to the Donut Palace - and my donut dreams came true! The staff took great care of me - they were friendly, patient with my ever changing choices, and helpful with explaining all the options available! The restaurant closes at noon on sundats & I was there around 11am so the selection of donuts was not at full capacity BUT they still had a great variety to covet. I was also surprised to find they also serve iced & blended coffees in different flavors, they have an ice cream counter, AND they serve savory breakfast sandwiches and such!!
The restaurant was clean, welcoming, open spacious area to browse the menu & the pastries behind the glass and place your order. I got a a half dozen box of 3 Boston cream & 3 lemon filled donuts and 2 frozen mocha cappuccinos for abt $25 + tip - and it was well worth it! The donuts were fresh & warm and truly hit the spot and the frozen cappuccino was a perfect sweet lil pick me up treat. The service was polite, quick, and packed up my order so neatly.
I also achieved best most sweetiest wife in the world for surprising my wife (yes we are lesbians - so jot that down! Donut Palace is lesbian & gay friendly) with a Sunday morning sugar rush. We lived deliciously today & the Donut Palace will be...

He let me borrow $10 by allowing me to buy donuts and he added the $10 on to my tab as a favor because my credit card chip and strip was not working at the drivers license station and I had to have the license. I did not have any ability to get any money, I would have had to drive an hour back home and an hour back to Laurel but I took a chance and God lead me here to help me and of course it worked. This man is a good man please support his business. Oh and by the way , as far as the donut quality is concerned and if you’ve ever heard of Shipley’s Donuts in Jackson Mississippi they are better or if not very similar. Enjoy the best kept secret in the South which is Mississippi. Outsiders sometimes think we are full of hate but we ore actually all full of love. Black or White, here in Mississippi we know we are all human. Home of the Blues. Travel Safe...
Read moreI was so happy to find what "I thought" was going to be a bakery for donuts. Nope. It's more like a small convenience store. Chips, snacks foods, sodas, just random things but no donuts.
First off there were only 2 kinds of donuts available. The entire case was empty. I asked the woman if she makes them there and she said no.
The shop had boxes piled all over which I would assume is products she was to restock.
It was very disappointing. They need to change the sign to be more fitting to what they...
