Phillips Drive-In — Restaurant in Laurel

A local favorite place to eat of mine especially in the cooler weather when I can set outside at their picnic tables and enjoy the temperature rather than have to set under the covered portion of the picnic tables to keep from baking in the Sun but this is a throwback to when you remembered growing up in the small town and there was a local family own Burger joint or you could set outside and hang out with friends while enjoying incredible food especially the burgers and hot dogs and an ice cold soda or milk shake or banana split. The staff seems to be friendly and always on their toes because they make a lot of food in a condensed amount of time between the drive-through and the crowded seated area. I've learned the best times to go so that I know that I can pick up a table of my choice and I don't mind changing the time of day or evening that I eat to make sure that my visit is as relaxed and pleasant as possible and that's how good the food is that I would change...

Awesome Burgers cooked on a flat top griddle so it gives the hamburgers that extra seasoning and a little crisp on the edges and great frys nice and fat. No skimpy frys here! Check out when their busy hours of the day are and call your order in to avoid the long lines waiting at the order window. PDI is one of those magical places that remind you of the good old days when times were less stressful and service was with a smile. Great place to get some really good food and so cold of ice cream that it will give you brain freeze in a good way. Order your ice cream with your food to avoid the extra wait because its not the going to melt before you finish eating ! I would Love to eat here every week but can't since I've recently moved to North Georgia for job reasons. My family, with some very picky kids, had several items from the menu. Jumbo Cheeseburger, Chili Cheese Hot Dog, Frito Pie, Chicken Tenders, Fried Shrimp, Chili Cheese Tots, French Fries, and Onion Rings. We found all the food to be delicious other than the hot dogs. Not sure what kin are used but my kids had issues with them being very red and didn't like the taste. Everything else was excellent. We also had shakes for dessert, and all enjoyed the shakes. The only negative is that it took a long time to get the food. I appreciate that it was all made fresh but if I was in a hurry, this would have been a negative. As we are not from the area, we didn't know how long it would take until after we ordered.
