This restaurant is fabulous! In the 50 years I’ve lived in Kansas City, MO, I had never been to Lawrence until 2 weeks ago. I took my two youngest grandchildren to the sunflower farm and then went into Lawrence to eat on Tuesday, 9/10/24. We chose Genovese because we all love Italian cuisine. The kids had Alfredo penne pasta and I had the chicken Parmesan dinner. The portions were quite generous. We ordered some delicious bread and a also a pizza. Everything was scrumptious! The service was great, the prices very reasonable, and all the food was fantastic. We split a Tiramisu for dessert and it was delicious. On the way home, my 10 year old grandson said: “That restaurant was delightful” (I don’t know where he comes up with his descriptive words) and he said he’d give it a 10 out of 10. Then he mentioned how cool the restroom was decorated and how clean it was. On 9/12/24 I took my two middle grandchildren to see the sunflowers and they wanted to go to “that Italian restaurant that Carter and Laya loved.” My granddaughter had the chef made Gnocchi, which was delicious. My picky grandson had the Penne Bolognese, which was excellent, and I had the spaghetti and meatballs (which were huge and tasty.) We split a Tiramisu for dessert. The food was excellent; but, there were two parties of 10-12 people which slowed down the service a bit. We all decided that, even though we had to wait, it was worth it for the delicious food. We sat on the patio and the kids were very entertained by people watching. There was a young man doing wheelies on his lighted bicycle and he even rode it standing on the seat…which the kids thought was very cool. I took my oldest grandson to see the sunflowers on 9/16, and as we were leaving, he asked if we could go get Italian food. We went again to Genovese and sat on the patio. We ordered their delicious bread, my grandson had the spaghetti and meatballs, and ordered a side order of 3 meatballs. I had the chicken parmesan again. Everything was very tasty, the service was stellar, and it was a beautiful evening. Once again, we split the Tiramisu for dessert. The portions are very generous. I took my leftovers home and split it with my husband for dinner the next night. We all loved the restaurant, and want to go back for lunch one day soon, as they only serve sandwiches during lunchtime…and the selection of sandwiches looked awesome! Even though it’s an hour drive from our house, all 5 grandkids said they’d love go again SOON! I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for delicious, reasonably priced food and great service.

Stopped by one recent Friday night after work and we tried the Tuna appetizer, it was delicious. We also tried the meat cheese board and finished with my favorite homemade pappardelle pasta dish. I order it every-time, cant help it, it's so good. We will be coming back for the Tuna appetizer as well. Our bartender, Alex if I recall, was great!!! I got the lemon cello cocktail and my husband got something special from the whiteboard which he enjoyed. Afterwords I enjoyed an Expresso martini that was creamy and DELICIOUS!! It was pretty crowded this night but still intimate in it's own way. Overall experience excellent!!! Last week my husband and I went to this Amazing restaurant. We sat at the bar like we usually do and were waited on by Haley before she left. She got our drinks out very fast and then turned service over to Alex. She has waited on us before and we had a positive dining experience. Alex did a great job explaining the specials of the evening which included Grilled Halibut and then assisted me with my questions about the homemade pasta dishes. My husband got the Halibut which was a mild flaky white fish grilled perfectly with asparagus and potatoes, he said it was delicious but the empty plate said it all. I chose the Fettuccine Alfredo which was delectable with the tender fresh noodles and tasty sauce. In the past Ive had the Pappardelle Pasta with the sauce that came with it on the menu and with a different sauce. They will accommodate almost anything you want to change (sauce wise) from my experience. We had the Burrata as an appetizer, very delish. Also some other favorite appetizers of ours is the Tuna Tartar and Zucchini Chips. I almost always get the Limoncello Spritz and my husband gets an old Fashioned all pleasurable to the pallet. It was a Wednesday evening and they have live jazz music which is welcoming and cozy. Also the have wine pairing dinners, Cinco de Mayo event coming up. I highly recommend giving them a try!!!

BFF texts me and suggests happy hour. Me: ☺️. She suggests genovese on mass. I'm flummoxed? Really? Where is this, and how did I miss it? Ok. And I saunter off in my little sonic after hubby fixed it (no stupid check engine light on). Rolling along and I find a spot in the free lot-yay!!!! I go in and Haley immediately notices me and is so gregarious and enchanting! I tell her I'm waiting for bff and she offers me inside and outside options. I choose outside and she brings me water and a menu. Bff arrives shortly thereafter and we choose indoors (it's windy!). Haley arrives in a mili second and we order happy hour drinks. Bff chooses a lemon drop and I opt for a glass of red wine I have coveted (normally 15.00 a glass but today it's 7.00). Oh heck yah! Super excited! Our drinks are on point and bff has now proclaimed her lemon drop is the best she's had I larryville! My wine is dust down my throat! Appetizers: meatballs, mussels and zucchini chips. The zucchini chips are like cotton candy slipping down my throat with a touch of fire? Just scrumptious. Meatballs are so tender and moist you will want more and they are filling! Mussels arrive in a broth that surely makes bff and I hesitate and almost ask for more. Their happy hour is from 2 to 5 and I promise you'll be happy. The bathroom is clean although I'd move the trash can closer to the door so I can toss my hand towel into the can after using it as a door handle wipe. What a quiet and soothing place this is and enhanced by Haley. We'll be back but only because of her! Lastly! BATHROOM! so clean and updated!

CAUTION**Unprofessional, deceptive service from management!!!!! Negative stars if possible!!!!! When our group was being seated Sunday by a very gracious hostess, she told us that the special today featured free refills on mimosas until 2pm for a cost of $5. We all finished our meal and enjoyed several of the mimosa specials. We about spit however, when we got our check and found out we were billed $5.00 EACH for the mimosas we had ordered !!! WHAT.... are you kidding me? Where are the cameras? This is a joke…right? I called our waiter over to discuss the obvious overcharging and he no idea what had happened. Our waiter then asked a girl named Alex, the restaurant manager, to come over to our table. Alex walked up and asked me what my problem was? I politely explained that the gracious hostess that sat our group explained to each and every one of us that the “Sunday Special” today were mimosas for $5.00 with FREE refills until 2pm, and that we were over charged $5.00 for EACH instead. Without hesitation she snapped back at myself and our table and said “I don’t believe you, the hostess would never say that to you”. WHAT? This Alex the manager girl just called all of us liars without ever consulting her hostess!!!! She continued to tell us “You all should have confirmed this special with your waiter first.” I started to reply to the completely disrespectful way Alex was addressing our group, when she smiled, and literally laughed out loud at our table, turned and walked away !!!! Our waiter stood there with astonishment. Our entire group was stunned at the total lack of professionalism and the blatant rudeness shown by Alex the manager. We paid the over charged bill and started to leave the restaurant only to run into Alex once again standing close to the doorway with two other staff members laughing loudly at all of us as we walked out, as if to try to humiliate us like a high school bully with the big mouth that everybody hated. Great way to treat a whole table of guests Genovese.... Genovese should NOT have this Alex girl in a management position period!! We won’t be backwho wants to be abused and lied to...
