This review had me thinking of an old movie titled "the good, the bad and the ugly". My wife and I decided to give this new place a try after finding another restaurant nearby was no longer open for dinner. We were quickly seated outside and our server took our drink orders. My wife's wine made it to the table first, then my beer showed up shortly after. It was late so we ordered right away with both of us getting the icehouse fish sandwich. The sandwiches were good, but difficult to eat as a sandwich. In hindsight I should have cut it in half. My wife didn't get the bun also solving the problem. This place is pet and kid friendly, but that is not a combination that I enjoy dining at especially when dogs are barking and kids are running between tables. The outdoor dining area is covered with astro turf which seems like a terrible choice for keeping clean and healthy considering pets are laying on it and food and drinks get spilled on it. Finally a server decided to show their love of someone's pet by getting down and petting the animal then went on to serve customers without washing their hands. I'm just not sure pet hair and dander go well in a food setting, but that's just me. So there you have it the good, the bad...
Read moreOn Sat. 9/24 before 2:30 P.M. stopped for beverages and Tots. Never been but doubt I'd be back. It was Emily's 1st day and she had no idea on prices, or drink names, beer or much else. I asked if they had drink or beer list or just a Budwiser on tap, she didn't know. Turned out there's nor even a menu or flyer for. While waiting no water offered. I observed tables not being bussed, for an hour, we were told to seat ourselves. Multiple parties came in with more than 6 or 8 people. I heard them told they couldn't sit together. One party just moved tables and umbrellas together themselves. Some staff acted confused or annoyed. The food was just o.k. Not creative. Forget trying to get extra napkins. Emily tried hard but starting on a Sat. she should have tried to memorize some of the night before. Male manager or owner with reddish hair picked up paper on fake grass floor. Didn't seem aware of how long people were looking at at dirty dishes. At one point waitress asked who opened gate that we were seated next to. It said exit so I guess we were the...
Read moreThis was a VERY pleasant surprise after staying in Lawrenceburg each time I visit Cincy. Did takeout while staying at the Doubletree while the College National Championship was on. My IPA Burger was cooked really perfectly (medium rare which is maybe medium elsewhere but FINE BY ME). Burger was well accompanied by the bacon, IPA cheese sauce and pretzel bun. I'd repeat except maybe without grilled onions for me personally as they really overtake the beef flavor. Tater Tots were the the star though. And not many (any??) burger places know how to do brussels sprouts but this restaurant certainly did. Next time I'll get these without the parmesian as I want the sprouts and bacon flavor alone. I'd repeat this past order any day but still too much food for one evening which was my own fault. Next time I'll do IPA Burger and Tots just as a side or instead Tots and Wings or Salad for something with less pressure to want to eat in one sitting. Maybe my...
