The Captains Tavern — Restaurant in Lawrenceburg Township

My husband and I were desperately searching for a small place to grab a beer and dessert and ended up discovering this wonderful little place right on the corner of High Street (near Ivy Tech). When we went in we were greeted almost immediately and brought our drink orders. The owner then came with with beer cheese and pretzels apologizing that we might have to wait a bit for our food order because there were about 4 orders ahead of us. I thought that was nice. Didn't have the heart to tell him we were just getting dessert. They don't have a big menu (yet) and we didn't get to try the food (next time we'll go for dinner) but since they only have two dessert offerings we ordered one of each and would definitely get them again. Very tasty. It has a nice atmosphere, very clean, and I really hope the food is good and they get overwhelmed with business! Please stop by to check it out even it's it's just for a drink...they had a large bar area. Must be 21 to enter so it's not a family place. We will go...

Stopped in before heading to a concert at the event center, and were highly disappointed, and wished we had went elsewhere. Stood in line for drinks at the bar for over 20 mins while customers who arrived after us were served. No organization whatsoever, poorly managed, waitress was yelling, and the entire place seemed understaffed on a packed night. When we attempted to order food, we were rudely told that we needed to "hold on" while drink orders continued to be filled in front of us. Then we were informed (mind you, this is around 6:30pm) that the "kitchen help" said they could not handle anymore food orders. We told the gentleman that we simply wanted appetizers, so the bartender said that was ok, but then we waited another 30 mins while we could see our food sitting under the heat lamp.
