MOD Pizza — Restaurant in League City

Gets 1 star only because my wife liked her pizza. I could go on for a while about all the unsanitary things I saw in my 20 minute visit. My biggest concern is that employees acted like they didn't know or didn't care, either way it's just as bad. 2 people working the line not wearing some kind of hair protection, one person making a pizza pulled off ingredients customer didn't want and through them back in the container to be served to a guest (that's how you get someone sick, who knows if someone is allergic to something that topping touches and wants it). My actual issues is that the person writing down the orders on the paper touching the marker that is just laying around on the counter stuck her fingers in my food to pull out something that was in the sauce that shouldn't be. My impression from her response was that because she was wearing gloves she could touch anything which is incorrect. Other people had pens stuck in their hat or behind there ear, how do I know that pen was not behind someone's ear at one point? No one in the front seemed to be aware of simple health and safety rules. I talked to the manager and he insured everyone was properly trained and certified but based off what I was seeing and hearing I found that hard to believe. I wanted to bring to your attention a recent experience I had while visiting your establishment. As someone who has worked in customer service for many years, including in the service industry so I understand how important it is to treat all customers with respect and professionalism.

During our visit, the manager on duty blatantly flirted with my boyfriend. While I understand that people may find others attractive, what made this interaction concerning was the stark contrast in how she treated me versus him. She never once made eye contact with me, her tone was noticeably cold and dismissive when I checked out and picked up my order, and her demeanor completely shifted when interacting with my boyfriend; smiling, joking, offering extras without hesitation.

It was uncomfortable and unprofessional. I’ve never experienced something like this before, and it left a bad impression.

I've been to MOD pizza many, many, many times. So good! I'm a fan of the Calexico pizza and their salads are pretty awesome too. My favorite pizza at MOD, however, is called "Surprise Me". Basically, I let them make the pizza for me. I usually just tell the pizza artist a few things about myself: my birthday, my favorite color, favorite movie, how many kids I have, last song I've added to my playlist etc. and then let them design a pizza for me based on their artistic interpretation of the aforementioned personal information as well as my own personal clothing, attitude and appearance.
