Wow. If this was my first experience with homegrown I would never be back. I have been to the Wichita and the KCMO location and I love both of them. This is hands down my favorite breakfast joint in Kansas City but unfortunately this Leawood location needs a lot of work. I understand that this restaurant opened 16 days ago but the staff still needs a lot of training including service and follow up. When we we're finally sat it took about 10 minutes for the server to come to our table, and another 40 minutes to get our food. We requested the coffee cake to come before the food and it did not arrive until after the food was dropped. Speaking of our food, apparently the food had been sitting so long my eggs were actually cold not even room temperature. Potatoes were cold and sausage was room temperature. My wife's omelette was also cold, we let the kids eat their order because they were starving from the wait. The server that helped with the replacement order and brought out our coffee cakes after we asked where our food was wasn't even the server that additionally took over it, and she never even came back. To top it off A 6 top table sat after us and left before us. Breakfast shouldn't take 2 hours! may try this location again but probably not for a while. I'd rather drive the extra 10 mins to go to KCMO and probably...
Read moreI wish I would have taken pictures like other people did! My mom and I dined here yesterday on a busy Friday afternoon and although it was packed, our waitress was very polite, attentive and came back around multiple times to see how we were doing. The food was excellent, much better than other brunch places in the area and there’s 5 million of them around here. We split the coffee cake (which is huge by the way, so split with someone!), had a honey bee coffee, a strawberry lemonade, a turkey slaw sandwich, limoncello french toast, and a turkey avocado eggs benny and it was all amazing. The hollandaise had a great creamy taste and you can tell it wasn’t the Knorr stuff in a pack. Eggs were poached perfectly and the potatoes were good too even though Im not a fan of rosemary. All in all, we for sure would go back and try some other stuff on the menu. Reading these other reviews, I didn’t realize we had so many Gordon Ramsays with access to Google reviews leaving their stupid critiques of things I doubt they could do any better. If you want to be picky and order something mega complicated—do us all a favor and eat at home. You are annoying and entitled and we are all there to enjoy a nice local restaurant with friendly staff and a...
Read moreThe food here is incredible! I have ordered this to-go twice, and it is some of the best food you can get in KC. There are a few small "not so great" things to note. The first time I ordered it, I got their honey latte and it was one of the worst iced lattes I've ever had. It tasted like medicine. My bacon was also burnt to a crisp. I like crispy bacon best, but this was black. The second time I ordered, they forgot my bacon entirely with my pancakes. The pancakes were delicious (lemon ricatta) but they did not look like the pictures at all. Hardly any of the sauce, and a pinch of powdered sugar. Super dry, and did not come with regular syrup (I would assume you typically don't need syrup because of the sauce that is supposed to come on it). But, still great flavor to the pancakes. There were also only a couple of blueberries. My cup of tomato soup was only about 1/3 full which was super disappointing.
But, everything else has been incredible. The tomato soup and garlic bread are some of the best I've ever had. The pancakes are great, both lemon ricatta and regular, their eggs are good, and their potatoes are great.
Overall, one of my new favorite places...
