Got a cold brew. Simple enough. Listed price was $3.85. Barista told me the price after tax was $5.25. Huh? That's a lot of tax? I asked about the listed price and she pointed to a message written on the bottom left of the menu that said due to inflation prices were subject to increase. Of course they are, but our 5% inflation shouldn't lead to a 30% price increase. Also customers should be informed of what that increase is before ordering. I don't expect local coffee shops to compete with the big chains on price, but I do expect them to compete on service and quality. Being opportunistic with pricing and lazy with how you advertise those prices falls well short of good service. Cold brew was just okay.
Update
Revocup never refunded me like they claimed in their response to this review. They also didnāt seem to understand the critique. Itās okay to raise your prices. Whatās not okay is failing to effectively communicate that to your customers. If the coffee market is āin fluxā perhaps you could come up with a way to display market prices?? Or just write āmarket priceā next to a product instead of advertising an incorrect price. There is a precedent set in food and beverage service for how to advertise prices for products with scarcity and price volatility (e.g. wine, seafood)ā¦why not just use that model? Again, itās lazy to just wait for someone to ask why the price you are charging is very different from what you are advertising and puts the burden of the communication on your customer and is frankly uncomfortableā¦at least it was for me.
You get rave reviews from your community so I am clearly in the minority in how I feel about your operation. I donāt get itā¦dated atmosphere, unremarkable coffee, blah service, but the Leawood demographic...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally nice atmosphere although a little small/cramped. People were reading and doing work but it was a little loud for those activities for me since seating is so near to one another. The breakfast burrito and the Turkish coffee latte was delicious. I took them to go because it was so busy and forgot to take a photo. I ordered a large latte and the burrito and with tip it was $21. A little high for the two items and 15% tip due to the burrito coming from the cooler and simply being warmed and a latte but both tasted great. Service was fast considering the busyness at the time I arrived. The barista was unpersonable but professional. It seemed she was working by herself so I attributed the lack of engagement as a first time patron to that and considered she may be a little behind with all the previous orders. When in the area, I would...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI discovered Revocup at the end of 2019/early 2020; ever since, this has been my go-to coffee spot. I used to live out in Lee's Summit and still made the drive down to see Lala and Brandon. They both are such nice people, always asking how I am doing and providing the utmost service! Sometimes I just go out there to get some peace and quiet or to write. I recommend this spot to anyone and everyone (even if you don't like coffee -- they have a variety of drinks and foods.) My favorite drinks are their Milky Way or a simple oat milk latte with hazelnut syrup. I love their chorizo burritos, croissant sandwiches, and pastries! On top of that it is a Black-owned spot with amazing artwork all over the walls. If you need a private place to chat, read, or eat ask them about their private room...
