It's one of the weirdest things, finding great Mexican restaurants in strip malls. This place really gave me De ja vou as it's the same hand painted furniture that is in a Mexican restaurant in Mauston Wisconsin.
Great service and huge selection as the menu spans 9 enormous pages. Chips and salsa were on point for taste and freshness.
Spoke with the Manager who suggested the the steak el Mexicano. I have had this dish at 4 other places and all were better unfortunately. I don't recall having potatoes thrown in to the mix previously. In my opinion this along with the sauce or gravy covering what is supposed to be steak took it down to mac and cheese level. Great for comfort food and tastes o.k but bland and unmemorable.
I had a coke, water with lemon and a virgin pina colada which for me was the high point. The rest of the plate was very generic. A little tuft of lettuce with a dab of sour cream, some diced tomatoes along with rice and refried beans.
They did not stock Jarritos Mexican soda pop or any other Mexican drinks other than alcohol.
I loved the decor of the place overall. But like I mentioned earlier I have seen this exact furniture and wall dressings at several other places. They really need to step up their game washroom wise. Only 1 toilet in each bathroom not a good decision for a Mexican restaurant for so many reasons.
Good experience overall, just so many boxes unchecked that could of raised the bar...
Read moreWe walk in and the host is talking to a customer. No big deal. But after a few minutes I notice that they’re just talking about every day life and the customer has already paid. Finally the host looks at me while the customer is talking to him, points to a booth, and says ‘there’s a booth for you.’ Thanks.
We sit down and wait for a good five minutes. (I was watching my phone because I was waiting on a phone call.) finally our waitress comes by and ask what we want to drink. I shrug and say, ‘we don’t have menus so idk.’ She rolls her eyes and continues to just stare at us waiting for an answer. So I say ‘I guess root beer?’ She then looks at my fiancé and I say, ‘I think she’s waiting on you babe.’ She just says water and lemonade and the waitress walks away without saying anything.
I look at the time and say, ‘if we don’t get our menus in five minutes, we’re walking out.’ She comes out and tosses our menu on the table. Slams our daughters lemonade on the table to where our five year old even looked shocked lol (deer in headlight look). She says, ‘I’ll give you a few.’
15 minutes pass by (no joke. I was watching the time) so we just walk out. We’re not coming here again. We’ll go to El Jaripeo from now on (which is where we went after leaving...
Read moreWish I lived closer lol!!! We were on the road and this place is 9 minutes off the interstate and normally when I'm on the road I was a quick off and back on the road but glad I looked this place up on Google maps and made the choice to try it out.... Great service to start, nice booths, I tried a couple options of the top shelf margaritas and both were absolutely unique and great!!!! Did the appetizer dish, large guacamole and it was fresh and perfect, did the shredded chicken nachos topped with cheese for the kiddos to split and they loved it, the David's dish was huge with tons of flavor, my wife did the shrimp dish with garlic and the corn that she liked also.... Chips and salsa were good and the salsa had a little kick to it... My bacon wrapped with cheese inside fresh jalapeno was a hot one, but perfect and great flavor.... Next time we're traveling on interstate 65 yes indeed I'll be stopping back in to try more...
