This is our second visit. The first time was about 2 years ago. It was a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon, the restaurant was empty. The staff appeared preoccupied on their cell phones and the service was as you can imagine, marginal. Of course, this would have been ok , if the food had been better. We were underwhelmed. So after 2 years and hearing friends speak well of the place we visited again this past Friday evening. Hopeful. It was a gorgeous evening and we sat outdoors . The Restaurent was quite busy and there was also brisk take out traffic. So we were excited and in anticipation of what we hoped would be a good meal. One more place in Lebanon offering another good venue would be very welcome. We really wanted to like the place. Our waiter was very nice and truly helpful. Our appetizer arrived, pot stickers, lukewarm and average. We have had better from Costco frozen fare, but then Costco is good so this was fine. The Sushi was barely average. The bed of rice didnāt appear fresh, the shrimp and crab appeared to be covered with what was some kind of Mayo. Not at all what we excepted ! We were still hopeful. How can so many people like this place we kept asking ourselves? I am sure our entrees would be better. We ordered the classic Phad Thai and Rad Na. I am sorry to report, we were disappointed to say the least . We have had Thai so many times, including in Thailand. I did not expect much. This is not a case of unrealistically high expectations! We just wanted so much to like the place. The food was insipid, tasteless and woefully bad. We left our dishes barely touched. I write this review not to badmouth the place. But they can do better. Much...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy boyfriend and I usually hit the same couple of places in Lebanon as there is not much to chose from around here. We originally decided to eat at one of our regular spots but we couldn't find a seat, they were busy. Thank goodness we googled restaurants near us and found Mae Ploy! Our initial impression was, "Wow! The decor in here is great!". We loved the creative decorations and the skids on the ceiling. We are bar people and always sit at the bar. We were greeted by Jeff who us served us before at a different restaurant and he is amazing! He made WONDERFUL recommendations (both food and drink) and kept a very lively conversation. One thing we noticed after receiving our beautiful craft cocktails and our sushi appetizer is that the staff takes great pride in their skills. Presentation was ON POINT! We started with the sangria and let me tell you.. it was the BEST I've ever had. Our sushi appetizer was delicious and the fish was high quality. For entrees he ordered the "Drunken Man" (we got a kick out of this) and the Penang Curry but with duck [its not on the menu but I highly recommend!]. Both were phenomenal! The portion sizes were ridiculous! I've ordered duck entrees at other Thai places and the duck is very slim. This dish was loaded and well worth the price! We SO wanted to try the deserts recommended by Jeff but we were so stuffed. We were given a sample of the bubble tea (I've never tried it before) and it was so good! The owner was lovely and came out to ask how everything tasted (twice). The whole staff was friendly! Overall, this place is a wonderful addition to Lebanon and I can't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was the worst dining experience I think Iāve had in my entire life. We were seated at 645. No one came and waited on us until 7. The table next to us had been waited on and had drinks by the time our waiter graced us with his presence. Nice guy. Took our drink order (waters) and we went ahead and ordered an app & dinner because we had waited so long we knew what we wanted. Our app showed up around 710. Still no water. Around 720 my husband went and found our waiter and explained to him his disappointment in the service (very nicely and understandingly) to which the waiter blew him off with the excuse that they were busy, in a very dry and dismissive voice. My husband then asked to speak to the manager. Turns out, our waiter WAS the manager. My husband let the manager know that we wanted our food to go and then the manager brought our waters by slamming them down on the table and turned around and walked away. A very nice waitress came over and asked if we wanted our food to go. We let her know that we just wanted our check to pay for our app and to cancel our food order. Iām assuming she told her manager, who then came over and asked if we still wanted our food to go. We told him no, please cancel our order and bring us our check to pay for the app. He replied loudly not to worry about it and stormed off. We tried the chicken egg rolls. They we delicious. Canāt rate the food because we never tried it and we...
