I have eaten at some excellent Japanese restaurants. This is not one of them. For starters it's very very cold in the restaurants. I was shivering and had to wear my winter coat all through dinner. The sushi was ok nothing special. We also got the goyza which was also ok if not a little small. The soup was earthy while not my favorite I could see why others love it. The salad dressing was thick and chunky. It also tasted off. Now for our chef. He must have been new and nervous because he kept dropping things and smiling like please don't see that which is fine. What wasn't fine is instead of doing the egg toss or shrimp toss he tossed the raw vegetables at us. They were still cold! I also thought he was going to catch himself on fire. The lighter wouldn't light so he kept pouring the lighter fluid. He also did the same thing with the onion volcano. When he went to cook the eggs for the rice he dropped an egg on the floor and left the egg white on the floor. It was still there when we left. He also got egg shell in to my rice. The food tasted like garlic that was it just like I was eating a head of garlic. The filet mignon was well done not medium rare like we had ordered. The shrimp was also over cooked. The meat was on before the rice and the last to be taken off. He put butter on the steak but just left it on top the raw steak. He then a few minutes later took some butter off of the steak to put on the shrimp. Nothing tasted fresh here. Some good things, service was very quick and they were all very nice. There was a super soak gun full of sake that was squrited into our months at the end which was fun. The place is very very clean. We really wanted to like this place but unfortunately we will not be returning because we felt our meal quality was not up to our 80...
Read moreSat us with our backs to a large party celebrating a birthday at lunch time. They put on quite a show for the other hibachi table. When they came over to our hibachi to cook for the two of us (we had not shared we were there to celebrate ourselves), they simply cooked our food on our hibachi with absolutely no showmanship at all. It was very disappointing. Do not go there as a couple wishing to celebrate a special occasion because they do not go out of their way to make it special for you unless you are with a large group. The food was good. No complaints there. It simply lacked the kind of show we have experienced at other hibachi restaurants. No Volcano. No knife showmanship. No tricks. No trying to flip a piece of shrimp for you to catch in your mouth. Nothing the least bit fancy or entertaining. We simply watched them stir fry our meal in front of us in the way you might stir fry a meal in your own kitchen when no one was there to impress. Our own hibachi chef either had no skills to show off or he decided that it wasn't worth the effort to put on a show for only two people. Either way, I would not go back there as a couple to celebrate something because they won't bother to put on a show for you! Don't they realize that's why you go there in the first place? We had even ordered appetizers, so it definitely wasn't because we weren't spending enough...
Read moreA premium hibachi experience, toki is located in colony square and has a great amount of parking available. The atmosphere is almost like taking a trip to japan. With murals, paintings, music, statues, and the drink selection, you wouldnt know you were in lebanon.
They allow you to decide if you want a table/booth or to sit at the hibachi. If you choose the hibachi youre in for a treat! It takes a little longer to get your food as you wait for others to join around the grill, but the experience is worth the extra 5 or 10 minutes. Just dont be distracted at all throughout the entire cooking process, you never know whats gonna come next. Lots of tricks, humor, and A LOT of fire!
The food is great too. Its obviously not a 100$ a plate dinner, but the prices for the amount of quality product is well worth it. Steak, chicken, and shrimp are all great selections with tons of flavor and can even be combined for a half and half dinner. The drinks are plentiful and they have some hard to find stuff. The desserts are wonderful as well! They have mochi with whipped cream! If you dont know what mochi is, or havnt tried it, you will ask yourself (or your significant other) why you havnt had it before.
The staff are great, the place feels very inviting, and the food is wonderful. Not too many other things that you need when looking for a...
