We came in on a Sunday afternoon and unfortunately just missed the cutoff for brunch. This was my first visit here, as I was helping a friend move in to a nearby apartment. It's a cute little town square concept and location, though parking can be a bit difficult unless you opt for the garage.
We decided to eat inside because it was just a touch too cool in the shade of their outdoor patio.
We were a party of 3, and later 4 when another joined us for dessert. We ordered a bottle of rosé, some appetizers, a 3-course meal deal (a good value for $39.95), and two hot chicken sandwiches with tots. The food was all very well-prepared. The wine was delicious and kept chilled at the table. We tried the deviled eggs as an appetizer, and it was very good.
Service, on the other hand, was not so great. It was not very crowded at this hour on a Sunday, in between brunch and dinner. We had a young man, maybe college aged, as our server and it was clear he needed some additional training. We kept having to flag the hostess and other servers to ask him to come back to our table. We had an obviously dirty plate brought out to the table for our appetizers, and we pointed it out to him; he took it away but never came back with another plate! Same thing for a wine glass that had a lipstick smudge on it. He took it away but we had to ask another server for a replacement! Food would come out brought by a food runner, and our server wouldn't come in to check if everything was to our liking or if we didn't anything. It was like this with everything: water glasses, silverware, and to-go containers. We even had to ask someone else for a dessert menu after completing our meal for a good 20 minutes (and one of our meals came with a dessert already). Even the final check required someone flagging him down.
Food and ambiance were all very good. But server training is a definite need. I think our lunch took at least 90 minutes. I can't imagine how long a lunch or dinner would be if it was actually a full/busy...
Read moreWe had a big family get together for Valentine’s Day, and for once I decided to let someone else do the cooking. Being a regular and a huge fan of Firebirds, I had no difficulty deciding who to call. We selected 3 orders of the ribs from the Family Meal Deal catering menu . The symbolism of ribs being the protector of the heart was not lost on our guests on a Valentine’s Day celebration. The ribs were outstanding, juicy, fall off the bone tender. The potatoes were amazing , as were the salads ( BLT and Caesar), and the “fresh vegetables” — how’s that for heart healthy ? I don’t want to forget to mention the bread and butter which is very important to a family of transplanted New Yorkers. It has been culture shock discovering that restaurants down here don’t know how to bake good bread, let alone offer it with a meal. Firebird’s bread is “ my dessert”, ( as my father used to say)— I am such a bread lover. Even the butter is of equal quality. Funny how most restaurants overlook these two things as if they were unimportant . They are not. The dessert—- the fudgiest brownies ever and the creamiest cheesecake ever —- completed an outstanding , satisfying meal in the best way possible. There was plenty of food for all and we all had a full and happy heart by end of night. Byron Sese -Khalid was our contact , and he guided us through our order. He could not have been more helpful, professional, knowledgeable or kind. It was such a pleasure dealing with him. I can’t tell you how many times we have dealt with restaurant personnel who appear unskilled in dealing with the public and have little familiarity of their menu or the major ingredients in a simple dish. Byron IS Firebirds to us, and we are so very pleased to have such a welcoming personality lead this...
Read moreThis is one of our favorite restaurants for special occasions. They never disappoint. I got an email for a Father's day cookout pack that had 4 raw steaks and 4 burgers for $50 and jumped on it right away because the quality of their meat is fantastic. I picked it up on Sunday evening and tossed the bag into the fridge without even thinking to open everything and look at it. My husband had been admitted to the hospital on Friday so I was a bit flustered throughout the weekend. Tuesday, after he had been home, we had decided to cook the burgers in the pack. My husband opened the bag and noticed that we had all 4 steaks, but no burgers. I quickly called the restaurant and explained the situation. I felt terrible, because I should have checked the bag to begin with and not waited until we went to cook the items 2 days later to notice, but oh well. They were very accommodating and were able to have the burgers ready for pickup within the hour. When I went to pick them up, I was greeted by the manager who quickly brought the burgers to me along with a free dessert and coupons to apologize for the inconvenience. I was thrilled that they were so kind and willing to assist me even though it had been a couple of days and was not expecting any of the extras, so it was a pleasant surprise to receive such fantastic customer service. We have never had bad service here, but this particular event will always stand out. I know it is hard to trust people when they call up saying that they didn't receive something, especially after so much time, but they treated me so kindly and with so much respect. We will be forever customers to this establishment. Thank you for making my stressful weekend a little...
