On 6/14/25 my daughter was celebrating her 10th birthday. She chose 4 friends (very quiet and respectful girls) to go shopping and then out to an early dinner. She chose Plaza Azteca as it is one of her favorite restaurants. The girls started their shopping at Ulta at 4:00pm. While I shopped with them, I had my husband walk over to Plaza Azteca to give them a heads up we would be over to eat around 4:45pm-5:00pm (they don’t take weekend reservations). He explained to the hostess, and she gave him a blank stare and told him to come back at that time. At 5:00ish we walked over, and I approached the hostess. At the time the restaurant maybe had 6 other tables seated with plenty of empty tables and booths. I asked the hostess if we could have 2 booths right next to each other, but that we would all be on one bill. There was an abundance of booths open on all sides of the restaurant. The hostess said she’d have to ask, went and got who I assumed was the manager (another woman). The hostess and this woman manager came back to the front, and I explained again what I was asking for (2 booths right next to each other- one check). The woman manager and hostess asked me to wait to see if they could do it. Keep in mind we were the only people at the front asking to be seated at the time. The two women proceed to chat (about who knows what), shuffle around whatever they were doing behind the desk, and completely ignored us. My husband, myself, and the girls all stood there waiting for about 5 minutes. No one was grabbing menus or walking around trying to figure where to seat us, nothing. Eventually I looked at my husband and told him we were leaving. It was clear they weren’t interested in seating us even though the restaurant had plenty of open seating at the time. We began to walk out, the two women glanced up, didn’t try to ask if we were ok or if we still wanted to be seated. Nothing. They could have cared less. Clearly, they weren’t interested in the $200 my group would have brought in for the evening. We walked across the street to Firebirds and had an amazing experience and were treated with great service, respect, and courtesy. Overall, a really disrespectful way for a business to treat a customer and ruin my daughters desire to eat at one of her favorite places for her birthday. We...
Read moreI went here on 1/30/24 with two other people The food was good (birria tacos) but service was kind of odd. Our waitress would only look at one specific person in our party even if she was talking to someone else. To the point where the person she was looking at said she felt uncomfortable whenever she came to the table (she would get uncomfortably close to her).
When it came time to pay, we asked that she split the check three ways. The checks were separated correctly but I later noticed my card was swiped once and inserted once (this was specified on my bank statement). I called and requested a refund because I was not able to get in touch with the person whose meal had been charged to my card. I was told I would be given a refund after multiple conversations with staff on behalf of the manager. This was on 2/1/24. I noticed today (2/19/24) the refund still had not gone through. I called and the manager could not speak to me again, but I spoke to another staff member who initially said the manager told her that I had already received a refund in cash. I informed her this was a flat out lie or she had me confused with someone else. I was then told I would need to go back in person to get the refund. I expressed how I felt that was unprofessional since i was told it would be taken care of weeks ago.
As of right now, I’m waiting for a call back. I’ve provided my name, the date I was there, the waitress’ name and the last 4 digits of my debit card. I don’t understand what the hold up is when you have electronic records.
Note- the staff have been very polite. The issue is the waitress we had honestly made us uncomfortable, made what was probably an honest mistake, and now management doesn’t feel like fixing the mistake.
UPDATE (3/10/24) I emailed like instructed in the response to this review and have heard NOTHING. I will never return to this place and will advise people to not go and waste their money and be...
Read moreWas it discrimination or sheer callousness? We wait for 30 mins to get to our table, get seated, and order the drinks and food. The drinks come in 15 minutes. We request the server to get our order quickly (as we had ordered only 2 entrees) and he said it is coming...We waited for another 20 minutes and then requested him again and he pointed to the kitchen saying the order would be there soon...another 15 minutes and we requested the lady at the reception to look into it. She never came back to us! We requested our server again and he pointed to the kitchen...All this time the folks who came much later were getting their food and that made us more hungry and in fact uncomfortable at the same time. My daughter was coming back after a 3-hour hectic skating practice and was falling asleep. Again reminded the server every 10 mins and then we were really feeling embarrassed. Finally, I went back to the reception lady and told her that we have been waiting for around 75 mins now and the food is not there. She went to the kitchen and came back with our server...Can you imagine what he said - can you give your order again - I forgot to place the order in the kitchen!!!!!!! Is this acceptable? After 6 reminders and 75 mins wait the server and the receptionist come back asking for what we have ordered??? This is the worst treatment and experience ever...The server was not even apologetic and walked away when we said that we would not eat there and grabbed...
