Normally I try to not write poor reviews, but this just simply deserves one. My daughter wanted to celebrate her 24th birthday at Kobe and asked for months to go. My daughter is disabled, so her birthday is the biggest event of the year for her. Every year she looks forward to picking out where to go, and having her family celebrate with her.
We made our reservation two weeks ahead. I made my reservation on speakerphone and my husband was present when I reserved. I specifically asked if we could bring a cake for my daughter. The gentleman on the phone said "Yes, sure, no problem."
I called the day before to confirm the time. We showed up for our reservation on Friday, March 12th, 15 minutes early. While already in the restaurant waiting to be seated, they informed us that we could not bring our cake in due to "covid." The cake was a homemade caramel cheesecake which we drove from Herndon, and needed to be refrigerated.
My daughter was very upset and we reminded them that they told us a cake would be fine, and they basically told us they never said that. We then left, going next door to Giovanni's and had a wonderful meal of pasta, pizza, and hugs and happy birthdays from the people who work there. What a great alternative! After being customers at Kobe over the past 20 years, after this experience, we will never go...
Read moreWe loved the food!! Although we had a reservation we were made to wait without acknowledgement for over 30 minutes. The only reason we finally were able to get someone's attention was because I called the restaurant from their waiting area to explain our party was on time for our reservation but that not a single person would look at us or even say hello!! It was obvious that I confused the person who answered the phone because I was passed around to other employees before someone could figure out that I was standing in front of them waiving my hand and pointing to my phone indicating I was the caller. I would not normally tolerate this treatment but we were entertaining guests and didn't want to make a big deal of anything. I would especially like to mention how rude Ms. Chong was to us, I attempted several times to get her attention to ask about our reservation and she looked me in the eye and turned around and walked away without a word 3 times!
Our table chef was friendly and did put on a nice show.
Overall if you can deal with poor service the food is...
Read moreHi everyone , so last night was our first time going since the pandemic. First off our hostess was rude , we were 17 people , it was to celebrate my mom birthday .the our waiter was also rude and lack of service as well. No we weren’t rude or anything like that. We didn’t want to make it a big deal because it’s our chef was great . But lack of refills or getting the salad late was mean. For me to say that , he literally was standing near the register not doing anything . Half of my family was attend by another waitress and seem to get better service. I asked if he had cheesecake and was like no ! Buts it’s on the menu…! In the end it was to pay but my receipt was $158 , I just realize he charge me $173 ! Hubby like never will we go there again. We gave him a $15 dollar tip in cash . Rude that he asked where the tip but we wanted to give it to our chef , not him . So bottom line small portions, rude service, overcharging is what you get if...
