I visited ResQ BBQ on July 27 after a fun day visiting a farm in Leesburg with my kids. I discovered the restaurant through the Find Me Gluten-Free app and was excited to try their gluten-free options. When we arrived, I complimented the server on their gluten-free offerings, and she proudly mentioned that they “take pride in their offerings.”
Feeling reassured, I ordered a grilled cheese brisket sandwich on gluten-free bread. The sandwich was tasty, and I enjoyed it so much that I decided to order another to-go for my husband. Since he doesn’t have any dietary restrictions, I requested his sandwich on regular bread.
However, things took a turn for the worse on the drive home. I started feeling unwell but initially didn’t think much of it. When we got home, I opened the to-go packages and noticed that my sandwich was on regular bread, not gluten-free.
Concerned and upset, I immediately called ResQ BBQ and spoke to the owner. He apologized profusely and explained that, unfortunately, I had been served regular bread instead of gluten-free. He also mentioned that his own daughter is gluten-free, which made the mistake even more surprising. However, I had to press him for a refund; it was not something he immediately offered.
What was even more troubling was that the owner blamed the “Latinos” in the kitchen for the mistake, claiming they lacked understanding of what gluten is. This remark was not only inappropriate but also unprofessional.
As someone who relies on accurate gluten-free labeling for health reasons, this experience was disappointing and frustrating. It highlights the importance of proper training and awareness in food establishments. I hope ResQ BBQ takes this feedback seriously to prevent similar incidents...
Read moreResQ BBQ has been on my to try list for a few months now and when I was told by the owner that they were only a few blocks away tonight, I had to visit the Trailer!
I got just about everything on the menu! The juicy, mouth watering, tender brisket was cooked to perfection! I paired that up with the smoked apple barbecue sauce. The ribs with the IPA infused sauce is an amazing combination (definitely need more of that) but I think the pineapple habanero 🌶 with the ribs is my dream team. Of course the pulled pork with their Carolina sauce and pickled red onions, delicious.
Now…the sides. The collard greens. Full of flavor. Cooked to perfection and it’s vegetarian?! I’ve never had baked beans before 🤷🏻♂️ until today. I have been missing out!!! Do baked beans always taste this good? Nice hint of smoke, not to sweet. I LOVE MAC & CHEESE. Their mac and cheese is on a whole new level. Smoked and with bacon! Speaking of bacon. The candied bacon. I only ordered two strips…my first trip. I had to go back and pick up 3 more because that wasn’t enough! Then I got the stuffed jalapeños with bacon. I’m so glad I made the second trip back. Homemade cornbread muffins made with real corn then you dip a little sweetfire barbecue sauce chef's kiss
Can’t wait to visit the new location in Leesburg in the next...
Read moreI've been to Res Q BBQ on numerous occasions. Every time everything was a delight. Until my most recent trip. We ordered a few dishes to go. Then asked for two extra sides of sauce. Now, it's not attempting to be cheap. After ordering $50 worth of food for two people. But I was confronted with "We charge 75¢ per cup of extra sauce." When if you actually dine in you can use as much sauce as you want. Somewhere along the line there should be a little Common Sense involved. Samantha and her better than thou attitude was a real turn off I was going to purchase more sauce until her snotty attitude prompted me just to open my to-go containers and put a little extra sauce on my meal from the sauce caddy sitting on the table. Her excuse for charging was that "We run a business. We're here to make money." Which of course made me ask the question is that do you only attempt to take advantage of people who are ordering to go? Because it obviously doesn't apply to anyone sitting at a table with six full bottles a barbecue sauce and can use as much as they want. Because the food is so delicious at Res Q BBQ I will continue to go. But I will definitely avoid...
