Barely over a week open and twice--TWICE--something happened with our food. The first time, the manager was nice and replaced it. We've had food from four times. Two times it was great, two times it wasn't. I called this morning to INITIALLY request a replacement again, although I was skeptical this time, and when I changed my mind and started asking the girl on the phone the name of the bakery that makes the bread since TECHNICALLY weird chewy bread isn't THEIR fault since it's made off-site, not worrying about a replacement anymore, and she acts shady, starts talking fast, says she has to get back to her customers, and hangs up in my face.
Fortunately, I can find the information myself, but it went form a pleasant interaction to trying to hide information, which is...odd. The other manager, a male, who replaced our food the first time was very nice, as was the two girls at the counter--the first time. It IS listed on the website that their bread is sourced from a local bakery, so that's who I'm going to talk to. I can't be mad at Melty Way for serving the bread since again, they don't make, but I'm wanting to know why she wouldn't tell me the name of the bakery. She said she'll pass the information along, but I'm not going to rely on someone to speak for me, especially when they won't tell me then name of the bakery and hang up in my face when I change my mind from requesting a replacement to asking for the name of bakery. I'm getting ready to open my own bakery, so I definitely want to let another bakery know that a bit of their inventory was oddly chewy. As for Melty Way, there's no way a company should be hiding something after having a new location open for under two weeks. But I also looked at the Yelp reviews for a couple of the other locations, and it has a two-star rating on Yelp.
I also made clear that we don't keep receipts, which is their policy of needing them to replace things, which isn't unreasonable. I also let her know that I do have pre-cancer, and can't just run up there and ask to replace things right away.
Also, the girl actually said, "Next time, eat inside." I was silent. I'm sitting here wondering if she doesn't understand how fast food works and that there's the option of bringing it home.
Fortunately, it was a LOT less food this time and no fries, just two of the four cheese sandwiches, but I won't be eating...
Read moreSeriously the worst experience at a restaurant. We paid nearly $50 FIFTY BUCKS for a very mediocre salad, bland sandwich, bland fries, 2 meager Mac n cheese bites, and 2 small chicken tenders that were obviously frozen and reheated. Here are my complaints: food is nothing like what is pictured on the website. Not super cheesy, not fresh. Only similarity is that it was hot. food is so bland I could’ve done better with frozen chicken nuggets at home. service was awful. Took FOREVER to get food, to ask for sauce, to get refund (had to pay us in cash cause they didn’t even know how to refund to our card). got our order wrong and then pushed us to the back of the line of orders so my salad (literally lettuce, croutons, and meat) took so long to get to us I had eaten my kids’ food in the meantime. :P I’m pregnant and can’t eat deli meat. Their pictures of the salad shows chunks of cooked chicken so I thought I’d be safe. Nope. They ran out of the chicken chunks so they decided, without asking me, that it was ok to just put deli meat in my $10 salad. Seriously?! I can’t even eat it. And they didn’t have caesar dressing for a caeser salad. Huh. Seems like they should have enough dressing… fry sauce had chunks of mayo - obviously whoever made it didn’t really care. root beer float ($6) was 1 scoop of meh vanilla ice cream in 3/4 cup of root beer. I’ll just go to Walmart next time and save a buck to make 25 root beer floats.
I could tell the 2 people staffed were stressed, but this whole experience was completely unacceptable and wayyy overpriced. I’m surprised they...
Read moreUpdate! We decided to give Melty another shot and no I'm not writing this because the gave me free food or anything. We paid but wow the experience was different. The food was still really really good but the wait was minimal. Overall very very good!! At this point the only thing they need is music to make the ambiance a little better!
If you're curious as to the previous issue, see below. These guys are great and have a good tasting diverse menu. I really love the idea and the staff was very friendly. All the makings for a good restaurant. However.... We waited OVER A HOUR for our food and there are only 7 other people in the store with only 1 person ordering. There is no reason for food taking that long to prepare. Very disappointed in how long this is taking... Full disclosure I'm writing this after an hour of waiting and our food still isn't done. Second to this and a note to the owner, you gotta make your menu pricing make sense... To make your meal a combo and add 2 Mac and cheese bites is 7 dollars. For a full entree of 4 it's only 8 dollars. Could be a clever pricing strategy with great margins but either way, don't make the customer...
