Wife & I went there mainly to get a gift card for a friend who had purchased stuff here before for parties at our place, and since we liked what she brought & knew she liked and were in the area, we figured why not.
While it's a tiny shop, it is decorated well, and had a good selection of sweets despite being towards the end of the day. When we noticed the prices (actually really good considering it's all gluten free deserts), we were pleasantly surprised and decided to get a slice of banana bread, some muffins and cake- all really affordable for the prices! The staff member (I forget his name) was really friendly and he spoke a bit with my wife who is gluten sensitive and talked some shop about ingredients. We'll have to go another time earlier in the day when there's more options for things to buy. Another customer was also picking up a custom cake which was cool since he brought it out for them to look at and explained how he did everything.
Oh- and the employee threw in a free muffin when we were checking out because of how much we spent and it being the end of the day since we were talking about how it was our first visit and how we liked the place and decided to try a lot of the sweets there....
Read moreUPDATE2. I have rerated by review because of the fantastic customer service I received from owner concerning misunderstanding in how to prepare the baguette bread for consumption. I had also purchased their flourless chocolate cake; it was delicious.
UPDATE: owner called and left message. Apparently you need to keep bread frozen and heat up in oven before use. I looked on label and this is explained so I would say I’m partly to blame, but it would have been nice to be informed of this when ordered/purchased since I never had it before.
Bought their gluten free baguette. It was dry and crumbly; couldn’t even get a slice without it falling apart. It was very expensive and I would not buy again. Husband stated woman behind counter was not friendly and seemed bothered to have to wait on him. I tried to call store during business hours to voice my dissatisfaction about the bread but only received a voice message stating they were on a family vacation (this was stated as in August). I didn’t have any option to leave voice...
Read moreThis is the only good gluten free bakery anywhere in chicago land area. Stay away from places like sweet alis its trash in flavour and quality. Not to mention price is reasonable and fair plus family owned at Lia P.
I picked up during Christmas most of all they had every item was amazing and really was worth it. They are also knowledgable and well mannered.
Too bad Lia P couldnt franchise some day would do great if more people had access to it as the current location is in a hard to find spot and sign is tiny. Looks of location dont matter for the customer but inside it was well displayed although small. Small works well for Lia P as you are bombarded and surrounded by great stuff all around. Really makes you want 1 of everything.
If you live far as i do its worth the trip for this place it cant be beat. Due try their bread too its one...
