I visited Jefferson’s Wings, Oysters and Burgers in Lenexa on Monday, March 18th with the intention of enjoying some oysters. The server approached my table to take my drink order, and I opted for the Mexican Mule, which was satisfactory. Upon receiving my drink, I proceeded to place an order for half a dozen Oyster Rockefeller accompanied by cocktail sauce, horseradish, and lemon wedges. Unfortunately, the server seemed overly eager and repeatedly inquired if I wished to add additional items to my order, which I found somewhat intrusive.
I consistently declined the offer. The oysters were served cold, so I requested a new serving, which was slightly warmer.
Once more, I was asked if I wanted to place another order, which I found to be rather bothersome as it occurred three to four times. I would like to discuss the condiments that were served with the oysters. The horseradish lacked the expected spiciness, and the cocktail sauce was not satisfactory. It had an unexpected salsa-like flavor. Additionally, I had to request silverware, which should have been provided without prompting.
Upon completing my initial order, I proceeded to place a subsequent order for half a dozen Cajun Oysters and five Wings with the Zesty Ranch Rub, accompanied by Blue Cheese dressing. Upon receiving the Cajun Oysters, I observed that they could have benefited from a more pronounced Cajun flavor and additional seasoning. Regrettably, this order of oysters was not accompanied by lemons or a cocktail fork. The Wings, unfortunately, were overcooked and lacked any seasoning beyond the rub. The Blue Cheese dressing was of poor quality. The Curly Fries were served hot and could have used a touch of Cajun seasoning, but overall, they were satisfactory.
The only items that were satisfactory were the Mexican Mule and the curly fries, although the latter could have been improved with the addition of a Cajun rub. The remaining items did not meet expectations..
The cost of the oysters, $16.99 for a half order, appears to be excessively high in comparison to the quality provided. While the menu indicates that the oysters are market price, the quality does not justify the price. Additionally, there was a lack of empathy and compensation when the first order of oysters was served cold.
Overall, I was not impressed with the service and will likely return to the other location in NKC if it reopens...
Read moreThis was my local go to when I lived in Lenexa before I moved back to Scotland and this is easily the best sports bar in the area, but it also combines that with a good neighborhood vibe. I truly miss it. I’m a bit of a sports bar snob and this place blows away others local or national for various reasons. BT is genuinely one of the best bartenders I’ve ever met, he really gets to know all his regulars and goes out of his way to provide tremendous customer service. His sports knowledge is second to none too!
The food is of a very good standard for bar food, the wings go toe to toe with anywhere in the whole of KC, the mango habanero ones are my personal favorite. I’ve tried virtually the whole menu except the oysters and there isn’t a bad thing to be found in my experience. Other favorites of mine are the patty melt and the chicken bacon ranch wrap - also get the onion ring sauce. The specials are excellent too, I’ve yet to see another bar that matches these in the area. Beer is always fresh, I don’t think I’ve ever had a flat draft beer or a dirty glass from here.
They have a million tv’s and all the packages. They will always put the commentary on for any game of relevance unlike other places that will just keep playing music and if you want to watch a game that isn’t on the main channels then there is a pretty good chance Jefferson’s will have it and the staff are always accommodating for those sorts of requests. ESPN+ for some of the more obscure college games or MLS Season Pass for Sporting games. It baffles me how many local sports bars almost make you forget that KC has an MLS team because they just don’t show their games. Always a great atmosphere on big sporting events and during football season.
Nice patio area too for the better nights. Would be cool if they could put a tv out on the patio for Royals games in the summer. The bar also has free wifi which is always a bonus.
I sound like a paid shill, but I genuinely loved going here and will make sure I get back sometime down the line when I’m next in KC. If I had the money I’d run my own tbh! I came here with my wife, my friend and I'd take kids here too. Its a great...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing food, very nice staff, and clean establishment. We had the macaroni and cheese jalapeño bites, fried mushrooms, and half a dozen oysters for our appetizers. Everything came out quickly and was so good. Between my group we had the fried pickle sandwich, guacamole burger, and chicken wrap along with sides of fries and onion rings. Everything was delicious and the portions were perfect. Our server, Marin, helped us when we had questions about the menu and was very attentive and kind, she really made the experience great.
This is definitely a new favorite and I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone in a heartbeat.
EDIT: The above was my initial review after going here for the first time. Following this, I wanted to take my fiancée here for dinner. We went on a Thursday and there was what seemed to be a normal amount of staff and not many customers. That being said we came in and waited probably 5 minutes at the front and then sat ourselves right near the front, the closest you could be. The bar staff clearly saw us come in. Several staff passed by us and we tried getting the attention of two of them and were seemingly ignored. We waited for 20 minutes and nobody came to give us menus or water. We left after waiting for 25 minutes without having gotten drinks, a menu, or any type of acknowledgment in a restaurant that seemed fully staffed and not...
