So i know the whole covid thing is still going on but I went there today, and of course its a half buffet which I expected, but the meats that they have sitting there by the grill you can have them cook for you was bad, the chicken was turning green color and the other meat they had there was gray, GRAY! I laughed because they didn't do anything to hide it from public eyes. Some of the food was dry, had been sitting for too long and someone in the back kept sneezing which normally isn't a big problem for me but it seemed like there was only one cook that evening and as he sneezed I hear something frying as if he's tossing the food in the back and its hitting the grill the same time as the sneeze. Lol so I guess this location is a low tier budge because I literally saw them put out those totinos party pizzas you can buy at the frozen section at heb or Walmart, decent pizza if your on a budget but for this buffet it was more of a joke to me. I mean I'm not really one for eating a pizza at a buffet because I can eat on literally anywhere else but when I saw the guy bring it out from the back I smiled and said "is that Totinos?" Was not so much of an issue, just an observation. The fruit selection was actually one of the better ones than every other buffet I've had in San Antonio, fruits were fresh, had good taste, except for the cantaloupe, and even the chocolate pudding thing they had was better than most places, but the thing that was the absolute one thing that I thought I'd never spit up was the mini square cakes they had, the chocolate one with the oreo piece on top was the driest piece of cake in the world, and ive had dry cake before, but i tore it open and took my straw with water and slowly dripped water onto an exposed piece of the cake and it absorbed it like a sponge. I took the other piece and wipe the condensation ring from my cup on table and its like the water was never there lol. Thats how dry that was. Final thing, the ice cream machine which I'm more surprised they were running it because almost every other buffet right now has none, was awful. They only had chocolate running through the machine and the lever for the mix of both was working so I used it for fun, white liquid shot out everywhere for a few seconds and then chocolate dispensed right afterwards, my initial thought was, oh i guess the vanilla wasn't ready or they just ran out, i take it back to my table and the chocolate part was alright even though you could see the ice particles separate from the actual chocolate but the vanilla tasted like i had just put my tongue into a bowl of sour milk. How long had that vanilla been in the machine, I wondered, was it even vanilla? Overall the general chicken is why I gave 2 stars, they put alot of peppers in it, i love spicy general chicken. I think if I come here during a busy time when there's more people then the food might be fresher, we will...
Read moreSo today I had to change my review at this establishment after years of coming here and when I say years I mean like 7 plus years. So I don't drink carbonated beverages so I always take my own bottled waters where I go because I prefer ozarka and most establishments don't offer ozarka. Me and my mom went in today for lunch I walked into the establishment with two bottles of water and I bought my mom a beverage because she does like to have a soda with her meal. Our ticket was 45 plus dollars which is normal we eat here almost every Sunday if not just her and I me her and my brother. As we went and got our food we sat down and I was approached by the manager and he asked me if I paid for those Waters because he was told that I did not. I told him that I brought them from home because they typically give you tap water and I don't prefer it. He said that they actually sold Ozark as and I said I wasn't aware but I brought these in with me and that the cashiers both the cashier and the host saw me walk in with them because they made it a point that I only ordered one beverage and a cup of ice obviously for my bottles of water. But instead of looking at the camera to see if I went to the cooler and got them out without permission and without paying they approached me and said it were other people dining could hear the conversation which was basically humiliating. I offered to show them that I had two more bottled waters in the car because they said how could they be that cold if you brought them from outside. I literally stopped at my home changed my clothes after church grab some bottled waters and then proceeded to go to the restaurant. That's why they're cold. When I told the manager why didn't he look at the cameras before approaching me and making a scene he said I'm not the one making the scene you are. I told him we've been coming here for years he said this is the first time I've ever seen you and that was totally a lie we have joked with this gentleman multiple occasions. That was so off putting. We've been coming here for seven years!!!! The servers we always have are amazing and did all they could to make me feel better from what transpired. But I'm pretty sure this will be our last choice versus our first choice movimg forward!! Ron is a horrible manager. He is confrontational and refused to allow me to speak with owner's said they speak no English. He is...
Read moreMy elderly mother and I went in to dine after her intense medical appointments all day. We were starving. We love going to King Buffet,....usually. But this time was a bit different. It was not busy yet, right before or as the dinner crowd was coming in. We were greeted nicely.(Although it would be nice if they gave military discount daily, even for military dependants, also retired), but easy check in. We were seated in center of the room close to the buffet and halfway to bathrooms. Good spot. Mother has some mobility difficulties. I helped her get her food. I seared her, then went to get mine. We sat to eat and unfortunately it wasn't as good as it usually is, the ribs had good flavor but were pretty tough and a bit dry. They needed to fill up the pans with fresh food since it was going into dinner time, some pans were partially filled. Be careful when you grab the utensils on steamer tables, some pans have some dents and dont cover where the steam escapes making the utensils hot and steam will also burn you. The egg drop soup was good. And several other items, but some were unfortunately off for their usual display and taste. It was hard at times to get a wait person to come over, but they do, just a bit slow. My mother ended up getting a bit sick through the night due to whatever it was she ate thay didnt agree with her, but not saying for sure it was that the food was spoiled or anything, it could've been just her reaction to spices or grease, etc. We dont know 100%. I didn't get sick though. Coffee could be served a bit fresher than it was. The bathrooms, well they needed cleaned up, one toilet was "used"💩 and not flushed. Toilet paper was on the floor in the stalls and sink was in need of a wipe down, mirror as well. It needed some TLC. And if they could get individual soap dispensers instead of one gallon jug with a pump, it would make it much nicer in there. We really like King Buffet, so I hope they get back to the way they were, and get on top of things a bit better. I spent $45.00, with senior discount. 2 people. (Getting regular crab legs in again wouldn't hurt either. I dont know what kind those were but not what WE were hoping were there like before. We will try again some day. DO BETTER KING BUFFET, DONT LET IT GO DOWNHILL, YOU HAVE A GOOD PLACE, KEEP IT UP TO STANDARDS THAT WERE SET...
