We are not from the area but spent 4 days roaming around southern Maryland. Eating and seeing the gifts of the rivers. While at the wharf in Leonardtown, we decided to give it a shot. Small and welcoming. Food was crazy good. I had the rock fish broiled, and the wife the snow dinner. (Snow crab legs, hush puppies and two sides.) Coming from central NY the price was unbeatable for the crab, and the flavor can’t be matched. The rockfish was unreal. I had it at a different place the day before and didn’t enjoy the texture, but one look at this and you could tell it was done properly and fresh. Two fillets about 15 inches long. You can get it stuffed with crab meat, I decided against it that night. Two nights later we had to go back. Mainly for the crab cake, but also for the atmosphere that made us feel at home. Bellied up at the bar and ordered bacon wrapped scallops and crap soup to start. The scallops are cooked to perfection, and you are gonna wanna take a 5 gallon bucket of crab soup home with you. This time I got the salmon with a sweet glaze stuffed with crab meat. What a choice. Crazy flavor, and the sauce is on the side, so choose your own adventure. I’ve ordered skin on salmon at many restaurants before but never have I had the skin come as perfectly crispy throughout than this one. 20/10. The wife got the crab cake. We can’t describe to you this crab cake (this was the 4th one we’ve gotten on this trip) you just need to get it. We got it broiled and it was cooked to perfection and the flavor makes you sit back and contemplate past decisions. The hush puppies are great. We’ve been to the deepest of south, these are the best. Cake, if you can fit it, is good as well. The last thing is the orange crush cocktails made by Tessa. Order them. If you’re driving, don’t. Order a few more and take an uber. Fresh squeezed….. my lord… we also had them at other places, T&Js was by far the best. If you’ve made it this far thanks for reading. Go to T&Js and enjoy it. These places...
Read moreI’ve been here twice, the first time was their opening day and overall it was good, quick service and fresh food. After going recently, I can confidently say that is no longer the case. Visited midweek with my family, I ordered the platter with steamed shrimp and oysters, a baked potato and side salad, and I made sure the menu read oysters not fried oysters (they seemed to use “fried” before oyster’s in other parts of the menu); however, I received fried oysters, I did mention it to the waitress but she explained they’re not in season and they’re oysters from a can. The menu didn’t state when oysters are in season. Since we haven’t been living area long, they should annotate the oyster season on their menu. The side salad is premade iceberg, I received a smushed wilted salad with old tomatoes and it wasn’t worth trying. We noticed a fridge of stacked bowls of salad after the fact. The baked potato was also premade and sat in the steamer for likely days because it definitely wasn’t made that day judging by the translucent potato flesh, tried a little but it wasn’t good. We also ordered a jam burger which came with hushpuppies, a kids burger, fish bites, fries, and apple sauce. I ended up eating the side of fish bites we ordered. My family said the burgers were not good. Out of all the food, the steamed shrimp and fish bites were the only things that were okay.
Finally my main issues, the service was terrible and the establishment was dirty. The waitress didn’t come to the table unless we got her attention (it’s a small one room place, so there was no reason she shouldn’t have stopped by more than once), and we had to ask another person for tartar sauce. The place had a strong odor and with flies everywhere. I wouldn’t go here again, we paid full price for low quality service and food. They did give the kids some coloring crayons and a toy so the hostess that...
Read moreSmall place, minimal wait, great food! While there was a wait, the staff was very engaging from the moment we walked through the door. Waited maybe 5 min for a table to open up. Solid menu with very reasonable prices. Food came out quickly and all was delicious! Cream of crab soup needed a bit of extra seasoning but once I added some from the table, it was excellent. Crab ball basket had generous portions and a great flavor, coleslaw was exactly what I hoped for, the onion rings were some of the best I've had, and the hush puppies were tasty as well. We also got the steak and cheese sub basket and it was massive! Very flavorful and cheesy, bread had a slight chew to it which was perfect. Baked potato was piping hot and the green beans were delectable. All in all very very pleased that we stopped in and gave this restaurant a try. My only semi complaint is that the wait staff was pretty busy so drink refills were infrequent. We will 100% be back and recommend to anyone who will listen....
