The place did not have a welcoming outside door entrance. It smelled like cigarettes and trash due to the over flowing trashcan right there. Walked in and and the smell that you are greeted with got worse. I can only explain it as though u are entering an elderly living establishment and there are bedpans that need changing. I arrived around 1130. We did not have to wait for our party of 3. I chose this place due to the fact they boasted of the largest gluten free menu around. We sat and immediately notices they had 2 large parties. Ok we know we are in for a wait. We have our order taken pretty quickly. My daughter and I order a grilled chicken ceaser salad and my 5yo son ordered a kids burger with a gluten free bun and fries...and the wait begins....the one large party of probably 12 had already been served and were wrapping up eating. Seemed friend with the server. Yadda yadda yadda...the other large party of probably 35 people had drinks and apps being served as we arrived seemed content to wait. Another party of 4 came sat next us. Party of 2 came as party of 12 left...seemed friends with same waitress and they were waited in fast and served before the party of 35 people had finished getting g their meals out...oh yeah we are still waiting for our salad and burger but these 2 women got complete seafood dishes and apps and drinks....huge party is feed....table of 4 is feed. No one has come to tell us what the hold up is...did I mention I have a 5 yo with me? He has ASD...hes hangry....I srsly contemplated leaving money on the table for the drinks and leaving....finally food arrives. No check up nothing just happy to have the food. We eat and pay as fast as we can and get out of dodge. Probably safe to say...I won't return. My son was happy to have a burger with a bun but it's not worth the wait! **added note after this review the owner messaged me....Response from the owner"Jennifer that’s a nasty review. Show some respect to me and my staff. We work hard. Exaggeration is not good for a review. I stand by my restaurant and staff. " I did not exaggerate anything. I feel I represent both good and bad. I would think. The owner would show respect to patrons and try to see if these are indeed problems. If you look at pictures you see a trash can and ashtray at the entrance. I cant help it was overflowing and foul smelling. The entire place is carpeted I see looking through after getting that message they are proud of their recent remodel, perhaps changing out the carpet would get rid of the smell. Lets remember that building was there as previous restaurant MANY years before chick a dee...

The gluten free food here is AMAZING. It is not the typical "oh yea, we slapped udi's buns in the kitchen and have salads and say we have gluten free options" kinda place - it is pages and pages of food that you just can't find anywhere else and it tastes great! My family had the appetizer platters (These are not tiny folks) loaded with onion rings, fried mushrooms, and chicken tenders. Then haddock and clam entrées - which we had to have boxed to go because we couldn't finish our appetizers.
The service was absolutely lovely, and as a wheelchair user, I found the fact that the fact I didn't have to ask them to clear a space for my chair to fit at the table to be nice. The host had it done before I even reached the table. The waitress went above and beyond to answer any questions, and it was such a lovely experience.
There are 3 handicap parking spaces, but even if you can't get to them (we couldn't... a moving van blocked access (a customer)) the parking lot is paved well enough that your chair should have no issues traversing the lot.
The doors are wide, and the entrance has a ramp leading to an overflow seating area, with a continuing ramp leading to the main dining area. The ramps are a tad steep, maybe a 1:12 ramp? (Glad I have a power chair). I am not great at calculating angles, forgive me.
There was a good amount of turning space and plenty of maneuverability for my travel power chair. (About the size of an average manual chair).
I cannot speak as how the restrooms were. My husband visited the men's room and felt that it would have been a very tight fit if the chair would have tried to go in there, so take that as you may.
The one "downfall" of this place is the cost. Plan on paying at least around $50.00 for 2 people... which is on par for gluten free food but it still hurts. The food is delicious though, so unlike other bland offerings where you are paying a markup of 500% on a store bought roll, you are actually getting a cooked meal here. So spending the money is the occasional...
Read moreAll I can say is OMG! I assumed it would be good, but hadn't been in about 25 years...The quality and the taste of the food far exceeded my expectations..... taste was better then 5 stars!!!! I had the stuffed Haddock, it was out of this world....fresh as fresh could be...Taste was unbelievable, i have been craving to go back soon. Grandchildren had the adult portion cheeseburger instead of the children's menu...fresh, cooked to perfection....homemade fries and salads that even 3 and 7 year olds loved.... I had the luncheon portion which was huge.. between the meals and sides we couldn't eat everything, and it made for a great lunch the next day. Also, to have a perfect ending homemade strawberry shortcake, with a hot homemade biscuit and a scoop of vanilla icecream...again so large the three of us couldn't finish it. The service was prompt and very pleasant...and was very child friendly. Not only was our waitress great, but the other staff members were, asking if everything was fine and if we needed anything. I have eaten in may places around the country and will say the food and our experience was one of the best! Oh and now I should let you all know the cost of this 5 star meal.....$ 40.00 tip included and with a home cooked family establishment you can have your leftovers to enjoy later. Highly recommended, if you do not go you are the only one missing out... just waiting to ho to Lewiston again, because the Chick A Dee is on my list for a...
