Ginny Virginia Arnett and I continued on our quest for good home country cooking and we hit the mother lode! YOU MUST TRY THE BLUE SKILLET if you like home cooking / soul food. Ginny had salmon croquettes with cabbage which was “more flavorful than my mom’s” who was a great cook. She felt bad about admitting this but it was the truth. I had lamb chops with a citrus glaze which were incredibly good. I also had nice baked beans and pan fried cornbread. Even my lemonade tasted good. The place is fairly small but the owner/chef (Robert) couldn’t have been more friendly. He was informative and interesting to talk to. His daughter provided the timely and pleasant service. Let me tell you best cabbage ever so we decided to go back in and have dinner. Let me tell y’all I got a 6 oz steak and shrimp with greens mashed potatoes and fried cornbread. Hands down the best food I have ever ate in my life. It wasn’t even a 6oz more like 12 oz my girlfriend got fried catfish nuggets mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese I look over and she had that whole dang plate ate before I even got 25% done I mean she downed that food and she’s in love with the place. THE FOOD IS AMAZING AND DELICIOUS!!!! We met the owner, his son and daughter, but the highlight of our experience was meeting and talking with his Aunt, the runs the front of the restaurant. She is a beautiful spirit. I will most definitely visit again. I ordered the pork chop dinner and got Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy, as my sides and it reminded me of my Mother’s home cooking.
