Update 3.7.2025: The last few times we have went in person we have had quick and friendly service. I was VERY happy to see that they had added the Green Chili Rice back on the menu. They had a similar rice pre covid but it was removed from the menu. I am not a fan of their Mexican rice so I usually got double beans. I tried the Green Chili Rice last time and it was delicious.
Update 6.4.2024: We have went to this restaurant quiet a few times since my last review. The best way I can describe it is Jekyll and Hyde. If you go inside the service is usually quick and friendly. On the flip size, literally the last four times we got pick up we have had issues. For example, today we ordered ahead and the food was supposed to be ready at 6:26 and we arrived around that time. We waited as other cars came and went. Finally, at 6:45pm my husband went in to get the food. He waited an additional five minutes before receiving the food. We live about five minutes from this restaurant and when we got home we had to microwave the food because it was cold.
Update: I heard that the location was under new management so we have went back a few times and we haven't experiences any of the issues that I previously stated. The food is always delicious and comes out super quick. However, the service is sometimes spotty.
Previous Post: When I heard that Chuy’s was coming to Hamburg I was excited because we live in the area. We frequent the Chuy’s on Nicholasville road so this location was much more convenient. However, I have been three times and every time has been awful. The first time we went we were able to get a seat at the bar so we didn’t have to wait an hour to be seated. It’s a new restaurant so the wait times are still high. When I received my food there was a hair in it. When I showed the waitress/bartender she took it over to the manager. He happened to be standing at the end of the bar. When she told him he looked like he just shrugged it off. He did not come over and acknowledge what had happened or apologize. He just continued watched a game that was on one of the bar TV’s.
The second time we called the order in so we didn’t have to wait. They said the wait was about 40minutes for curbside. My boyfriend had called the order in and pickup it up. We had ordered cheese and we had to microwave it because it had already thickened. Also, when I bit into my enchilada it was cold. Not warm, cold like they hadn’t heated up the chicken. I microwaved it and even after a minute and a half the chicken just reached room temp.
With the other two experiences I was hesitant to go back but we love the other location so much I thought I would give it one more shot. I ordered online and set the pickup time as 5:15pm. When I got there around 5:10pm I didn’t expect anyone to come out right away as my pickup time was 5:15pm. However, I ended up having to get out of my car when the time hit 5:25pm and went and asked a waiter if I was supposed to go inside. I had been sitting there for 15 minutes as multiple waiters/waitresses had passed by and had not been acknowledged once. The manager had also passed by twice. The waiter said I was supposed to call and tell them I was there. Nowhere in my email confirmation did it say I needed to call when I arrived and the sign for curbside had their phone number but also did not say anything about calling. I called and told them I had been waiting and she said that they do not check the curbside spots regularly. I finally received my food, which I had...
Read moreI've been to Chuy's in Louisville and the Nicholasville road location. Both instances were better than my experience at Lexington, Hamburg location.
When we first arrived, we asked for a TABLE for 3 adults and a SLING for our infant carrier. One of the hostesses asked if a booth was alright for us and before I was able to speak up on our preference, a younger male host cut in stated "Can't you just shove it into a booth?" While pointing at our infant in their carrier. After a moment of awkward silence from my family and the group of hostesses, I asked for a table rather than a booth and for a sling once again. Sure, this was just a weird moment on social cues and some poor phrasing... But the cherry topper was then being sat close enough to the hostess counter to where we could then hear the group talk poorly of us for not being willing to sit in a booth.
Truthfully, I feel that when you see a family walk in with an infant carrier, holding a small x month old child, a booth isn't gonna be the choice. Especially since the carrier could tip over in the booth and even more so when they've requested a sling...
In addition to the over all vibe, the women's handicap bathroom stall was covered in feces. I needed to use the restroom and ended up not doing so due to the lack of sanitation. When it came time to change my child's diaper, the infant changing table was in dire need of a cleaning as well- so much so that I had to diaper change my 3 month old in our car. Two separate instances of going to the restroom where each time the utilities remained dirty -- Even after observing multiple employees go in and out of the restroom. & With about 30-40 minutes between each attempt
At this point we should have left and gone elsewhere after the first host encounter. My family wanted an easy Sunday dinner and instead experienced an unfavorable time.
It was disheartening as our waitress was kind and on her top game. She was quick with service and tended to the table to her best ability. Truthfully, she was the little saving grace to the entire experience.
In summary, the hostesses threw off a bad vibe and the facility wasn't clean. My husband's food came out soggy and we felt we werent able to bring this up as no manager...
Read moreSeriously Chuy’s?! I ordered two large quesos for curbside pickup before heading to a dinner party. The website stated it comes with chips, salsa fresca, and creamy jalapeño sauce. I paid $9 per order for this, thinking it was a bit much but ok since there was so much extra included.
I ordered for pickup by 6 PM. I was notified it’d be ready at 6:05, and proceeded to wait an additional 10+ minutes. They bring it out to me and I go to check the bag because it seems small. One large bag of chips and two tiny containers of queso. Not two bags of chips and two large queso, let alone the salsa fresca or creamy jalapeño. With tax and tip, I spent over $20!
I call to explain there’s been an error and the lady on the phone was incredibly demeaning and condescending. She told me “that’s how it comes, you don’t get the salsa fresca or creamy jalapeño, you should’ve ordered an entree.” I thanked her but started to explain that I had ordered larges and she hung up on me!
I was so mad that I called my husband to try to calm me down. He didn’t do that, and told me there a difference between being unreasonable and being rolled over. And that Chuy’s was steam rolling over me. Despite that being our first ever date, and the meal we had before he proposed, we will NEVER be back to Chuy’s. Not just this location, any Chuy’s location throughout the country. We are disgusted with their price gouging and poor customer service, and will shout it from the mountaintops to tell EVERYONE to stop supporting this horrible company.
If I could leave zero stars I would. This place doesn’t even...
