McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Lexington

Heads up!!! It's a big disappointment when you ask if they can sub a different type bread on your sandwich other than white and the cashier does not tell you it will be an upcharge of $4.39!!! This has happened 3 times and each time I am shocked at the 30% increase in price of sandwich!!! If I had been told each time, I'd be fine with it, but it is really misleading that you do not alert the customer to the huge increase. Not only do you hit the customer with "extra charges", but twice I've paid for a side of honey mustard around at buck or so and it wasn't in my carryout bag! I love this place and it's my go-to, but you are breaking my back financially! Please train the staff better and think more about a bread change being an option. I believe your customer wouldn't be so shocked at the price if they knew about the upcharge! I've noticed turnover lately and am sorry to see that, but the couple regulars at the counter certainly know their job, they just fail to inform the customer...

Not sure what happened to this place. It used to be ok (kind of pricey for ok food but a convenient lunch spot if you’re in the area), but it’s gone down hill. We’d heard it was under new management and decided to give it a try. Everyone there seems out of it or focused only on carryout. The staff aren’t really friendly or approachable. The woman who took our order lost our ticket, so we never actually got to try the food (unrated). The service is the worst. We sat in the lobby for close to 30 minutes waiting for our order. No one stopped to ask if we’d gotten our food. Our food was apparently taken or given away to other customers by the staff. We saw two eating in the lobby that had the exact same number, so the clueless staff probably just gave it away. We did manage to get a refund (though we had to ask several times while they scrambled around looking for our food). Can’t say I’d recommend this place. You’d do well...

I am a huge McCalisters fan coming from NC. I've eaten at this McCalisters several times and have always been disappointed. It is much lower quality than any McCalisters I've eaten at before. Last visit lady at the register was coughing and telling me how terrible she felt and how she'd had the flu and had lost her voice. I wanted to sanitize everything she handed me since i was there with my 2 year old and very little baby. I was the only one in the restaurant and my food took about 20 minutes because she said they had large catering orders they were doing. She also proceeded to go back and fix my potato salad side herself which also concerned me considering she seemed so I'll. The meat on my grilled chicken club that I love so much at other McCalisters was cold when I got it and I only ate about half because it did not taste good. I keep wanting to like this place....but it is just not up to...
