Honestly AVOID. A truly abysmal experience. There were three in our party out to celebrate a birthday. The evening started with a birthday card from the restaurant which we found to be a thoughtful touch. Our hopes were high from the reviews and with the gesture we were under the impression it would be a truly memorable evening. Shockingly, it was memorable but for all the wrong reasons: (1) Watered down cocktails - descriptions looked promising and upon arrival the initial sip was quite nice but after consumption everyone at the table agreed that there was hardly any alcohol regardless of the drink we ordered so we abstained from ordering more (2) Mediocre food - Everyone at the table ended up ordering fish mains and a few appetizers. The most memorable was the cauliflower appetizer. That says it all. (3) Grabby staff - before we could even finish the final morsel of any course a staff member would show up requesting to clear the table. This happened multiple times to the point of sheer annoyance. Having dined at several high end establishments, I can tell you this was not typical attentive clearing but rather a response that repeatedly made us feel unwelcomed and hurried (4) At the end of the evening the grabby server reached for the one empty water glass out of three on the table and took it without inquiring if I wanted more which I actually did. After waiting 15 minutes for his attention, I asked and was told begrudgingly yes I could have more water but that we needed to leave in 10 minutes to accommodate an 8:45 reservation. While it was a Saturday evening let me assure you there were 4 tables in the main dining area that were empty. In addition, no one was waiting. Our party tends to be quite mindful of busy restaurants that need to turn tables quickly, so we would have happily shifted to the bar if need be. We left and stood chatting outside for 30 minutes, no parties showed up. Save your money and spend it on a better meal elsewhere. Avoid, its...
Read moreProject 1917, welcome to our town! We are longtime residents of Lexington and were excited to try this high-end restaurant which opened recently. It did not disappoint. Our waiter, Kevin, was extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful with his detailed explanation of the items on the menu. The food quality left nothing to be desired. The 1917 Salad, made with pears, fried goat cheese and fresh, crunchy greens was delicious. The crab cakes were amazing, the best we have had--moist and rich. Unlike most crab cakes, these had more crab than carbs. The main dishes were superb -- my husband's salmon was cooked to perfection and my stuffed peppers were a unique combination of tofu, corn, mushrooms and other vegetables that made for a filling and very flavorful dish. While I skipped dessert, my husband raved about his key lime pie. This restaurant is listed as a steak house but as is evident from this review it excels with a variety of foods. We are delighted that Project 1917 is here and plan to visit again on special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries...
Read morePost 1917 is hands down one of the best dining experiences in Lexington. The food was phenomenal—steaks cooked to perfection, flavorful sides, and an overall menu that delivers. But what really made our night special was the incredible service, especially from Pat behind the bar. Pat was not only knowledgeable and skilled, but also genuinely welcoming and attentive. His drink recommendations were spot-on, and his energy set the tone for a great evening. If you’re headed to Post 1917, do yourself a favor and grab a seat at the bar—Pat will take great care of you. Can’t...
