I would give a zero if there was an option. If the owners are reading the review, they should consider replacing the current manager. We were there on 02/22/2025 Saturday around 9:30AM. Everytime we go to Tatte (we've been to almost all the locations in Mass) we ask for the Salmon Bowl (this is the only thing our toddler eats) with chili oil on the side. The cashier did not know how to input this request, therefore the manager came up. I explained to them that we always get the Salmon bowl with chili oil on the side because my daughter cannot eat anything spicy. We have had no problems with locations in Seaport, Chinatown (leather district), Belmont, Arlington, Brookline. The manager told me "we cannot modify any menu". So then I asked to have it removed, however he insists (without even asking the kitchen) that it cannot be done. I explained that I had no problems with other Tatte locations, however the manager just brushes me off and says every location is different. So we leave and arrive at the Belmont location. I had no issue here... The cashier politely asked the kitchen and everything was resolved. While eating, I swear to God, the same manager from Lexington comes by the Belmont location and starts greeting other service staff members. Unbelievable. I could have told him there but held back. Kind of sad to have felt sort of this discrimination especially because I grew up in Lexington (Bridge, Jonas Clarke, LHS). I have worked in the service department before and clearly this is not the way managers should act. Either he needs to be replaced or educated more in the...
Read moreI usually don't leave reviews, but the customer service was so bad I had to share. When I went to Tatte, I ordered a cake and a salad. When they gave us our cake, I noticed that it was not the one we asked for, so we went back to exchange it. We asked another girl working there if we could exchange it, and she acted very annoyed about it, even though it was their error. As she was fixing it, I could see the cashier who made a mistake on our order and the cashier who was fixing it whispering to each other, looking very annoyed. After we ordered, we sat down to wait for our salad. After around 15 minutes, they still hadn’t called our name and it wasn’t in the pickup spot, and we had to step out for 5 minutes. When we went back in, our order appeared to still not be ready, so we asked when it would be made. The same girl whom we had asked to exchange our order aggressively told us that it had been ready a long time ago, and that they had called our name several times. However, they had never called our name, and the bag she gave us had already been there when we left. We had told her that she never did, and she got extremely defensive. Also, our order wasn't even in the area that they put orders when they're ready, and didn't even have our name on it. It was a very petty thing to do, especially since it was their own fault. Although it was an unpleasant experience for us, the worker looked very...
Read moreWe were Tate’s customers when it was just starting out many years ago. They had a small bakery and coffee shop in Brookline, and we kept coming back frequently despite living relatively far away.
Then Tate added a few locations in Cambridge, with a flagship store on Harvard Square. We loved and frequented them all, especially the HS location. It’s always busy but service is quick, food is always hot, and the bakery is amazing.
We were so excited to discover that Tate is coming to Lexington. Unfortunately the excitement quickly receded. We went several times to give it a chance. I am not sure we’ll be back at this location after all.
Other reviewers are absolutely correct. It takes a very long time to get anything, and it is often cold. For example: I ordered a quiche yesterday. This is a pre-made item - it just needs to be reheated. It took 26 minutes to receive the quiche from the time of ordering. The place was half-empty with plenty of tables available. There were 3 people at the coffee bar, one taking orderers in the front, and 4 people in the kitchen. Why does it take so long?
The quiche looked and tasted sad. It was not fresh, shriveled, and lukewarm. The crust was soggy....
