Ted's used to be pretty good about a decade ago. Over the last several years the quality and service has greatly declined. I picked up my sister, niece, nephew, via a 2 hour drive, and took them there on the way to shop as a special treat on a Tuesday, early afternoon. Thinking it'd be quiet and the service would be better with less activity, not that it's ever that busy. Just so my sister could try the bison as there's nowhere else that serves it. I wanted to choose the booth I was used to with a particular quote on the wall, it was empty, almost all the booths were empty. We go walking and I turn to find my guests had been stopped 15ft behind me near the door by the dark haired older guy who appeared to be management. He wasn't politely saying, "Can you sit here please?" He was redirecting us by pointing at and tapping a table. Immediately we were all put off. But I thought well we're here, we'll try it and see how this goes when he walks away. The look on this guy's face is indescribable but to say he looked and behaved like a jerk. We waited for Idk how long for a waitress and she was only slightly less snooty than the manager, just bland as a cracker. The manager had resigned on a stool at the bar not far away with another man. They talked a drank alcohol enough to be distracting the whole time. Do managers always get drunk on the job? I considered telling them both (management & waitress) they're grossly unprofessional and leaving but the kids were hungry. They're exceptionally well behaved children I might add, we were all quietly disappointed enduring it at this point just waiting for the kids to get a drink as it was super hot out. It took ridiculously long even for that. I kept wondering what is the problem? The kids aren't loud, sitting still, everyone's clean and dressed nice, they're not that busy? Then it hit me. My nephew is half white, half black. The manager shot him judging glances, the waitress wasn't friendly either. I try of course to never assume but honestly this is one time I'm not giving that guy a pass and she was just not impressive. But we order hoping the food will make up for the service. It took a long time to get our food, I didn't even order anything cause I wasn't feeling it at this point. I just ordered a dessert to give to the kids. The taste was mediocre at best, the kids couldn't chew their steak it was so tough so that a waste also. The salad they gave my sister she hated and they didn't offer to replace it and we had to ask for everything. Everything. One trip to the bathroom the manager is waiting to POINT at the floor where they have a huge bulge in the broken wood floor, its really bad, you have to step over it to get to the bathroom, that almost tripped me going in. He came over and just pointed at it with no smile or apology for not having it fixed ages ago. Just unbelievably stuck up and odd. (Lots of things need to be fixed and updated there, its gross I noticed.) So. We will never go back. Ever. The overpriced food was never great to begin with, was barely eatable that day. To be honest I went more than once for the Western themed atmosphere not the food and now that's totally over. They've ruined that place sadly. If I could give it -10...
Read moreWe went here for a date night this weekend, drove to Lexington to stay in a hotel and get outta the house for a night. My fiance had been there a few times with clients and said the atmosphere and food was really good. The food was phenomenal, service though - not so much. We got there Saturday evening and they were packed, no worries though, we expected so. Hostess asked us if we'd like to sit at the bar and wait 'til a booth opened up, we said sure. We went ahead and ordered our meals at the bar, I got a mixed drink (which was delicious), and we snacked on the cucumbers while waiting on our food/booth. The bartender/server then seated a group of 3 right beside us to where the two seats that meet at the corner of the bar were basically right on top of each other. Both my fiance and the gentleman who got seated on the other edge of the corner were basically touching elbows. No worries though, we knew we'd get a booth soon. About fifteen minutes into waiting on our food at the bar, the hostess called our name and said our booth was ready. The bartender/server immediately put a damper on our date night by rudely asking us if we'd already ordered our food at the bar (which she knew we had, because she took the order herself) when I replied yes, and said we'd been seated to wait on a booth, she said, "Well. I guess I'll just let the other server know." very rudely and rolled her eyes as she walked away from us. It was rude enough to wear the hostess/server who took us to the booth apologized about the bartenders attitude and said she hoped the rest of our night went better than that. We then sat down and watched the bartender who'd originally put our orders in, talk with a new server and point over at our table then roll her eyes. That very server then walked over and brought us our food, etc. He was nice and did well, the food was phenomenal and hostess and other bartender (not the blonde who took our order, but a brunette) were fantastic. The blonde server/bartender behind the bar was rude and we would've complained to a manager had we not been in a hurry towards the end of our meal. Food was 5+ stars, was delicious and the best mixed drink I've had in a while, food was pretty pricey but worth it for the outcome. Service was good, minus the blonde bartender/server with the low ponytail. Don't remember her name, if I did I'd put it in...
Read moreI hadn’t been to the original Ted’s since the newer Ted’s in the The Summit opened (and subsequently closed), but it hasn’t changed one bit. We made a reservation for 7:30, yet had to wait 15-20 minutes to be seated; at least they honored our request for a booth and we were seated near the back, far away from the cold and revolving door. Our server was a sweet guy named C.J., albeit he was having a bit of an off night. We started with a bottle of the J. Lohr Paso Robles, and as we perused the menu I had to ask not once, not twice, but three times for the half sours (partially pickled cucumbers) they’re famous for. He felt bad and ended up bringing us extra. My boyfriend ordered the salt and pepper onion rings, which were HUGE, and he devoured them. For dinner I ordered the beef filet (medium well) with garlic mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus, but I was brought a medium rare bison filet. I know this because I eat beef steak about once a week and bison about once every other year because it’s a gamey taste I’m not terribly fond of. After sending it back for more cooking it was edible and quite tasty, although the manager who returned it practically threw it at me and didn’t wait around long enough for my response when she asked if it looked alright. Yikes. My boyfriend ordered the bison New York strip with garlic mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts, and he loved every bite. All the veggies were fantastic. Despite asking when the food was served, once again I had to ask multiple times for rolls, and when three cold rolls finally came out on a sad little plate we were told “This is all we have in the house.” You mean to tell me you’re out of rolls at 8:30 on a Friday night?! No way, Jose. Nooooo way. It’s worth noting too that the music was incredibly loud, so everyone was having to talk over it, making the atmosphere more akin to an Applebee’s than a semi-fine dining establishment. Very disappointing. I’m not a big fan of chains to begin with, and the whole experience was really indicative of why. Not much thought or care goes into any aspect of the business,...
