Viva Mexico - Old Vine — Restaurant in Lexington

Just went here with my wife. Food had ok flavor but was quite dry and everything was very salty. I am a salty/savory kind of person but it was truly overbearing. Even the Guac had a salty aftertaste with every bite—it wasn’t the chips, which were room temp and very plain! I usually pound guac even if it’s average, we didn’t finish half of it. It wasn’t just the guac though. Black beans, meat on both my wife and I’s dishes, etc. was salty. The staff and service was great, very quick and friendly. Nice location, warm inside, a good place to have a nice conversation and great TVs to watch sports. But, would not come back for the food which is disappointing. Wanted to like it. Albeit, didn’t try the drinks which per the reviews listed here are supposed to be good. Anyway, last thought: for the price you can do so much better for Mexican. El Rancho and other places in town are half the price and probably 3...

We were looking for a light lunch and drink and Viva Mexico was perfect! The classic margarita was great...not too sweet and just the right balance of tequila. The chips, salsa, and guacamole were fresh and delicious. We shared the Tacos Viva Mexico and they were OUTSTANDING! Five taco sampler with steak, chorizo, carnitas, pastor, and chicken served with fresh hot sauce, onion, cilantro, and salsa verde. The menu is robust to say the least so our only complaint would be...we could only...

Cool setting on Old Vine Street, tasted good, but my goodness i felt ripped off with the quantity. I ordered “Con Pollo Arroz” for $16 and they sprinkled my plate like they were rationing. Very little rice and queso. Compared to other places in town, this did not seem like a competitive decison from them but simply one based on greed. I also feel the waittress could sense my frustration with my ridiculously small portion, but i’ll just end my review by saying i did not feel happy...
