I made a reservation the end of November for tonites entertainment, Tony Ocean show. My party got there and we were told we would have to wait at the bar in the other room until our table was ready in the main dining area and where the entertainment was. We waited and waited, we then went to ask, why we were still waiting as we kept seeing others seated. The owner or manager was very sarcastic and said wait, get out of the way. As he sat other people. Then we asked again and he said, someone fell outside and ambulance was coming, not sure why that would affect the seating but again waited but he had no problem seating others. Obviously we could see that he was seating regulars with no reservations. We again asked why he wasnt seating us. His name possible George was extremely rude and said wait your turn. We went into the main dining area where many friends were seated for the show. He came by and told us we were blocking the bar. Our friend Tony asked why we weren't seated when we had a reservation, he told him, there wasnt any available tables. Then why were we told we had a table in the main dining toom and it would be just a few minutes? In the main dining room was a single man sitting at a table for 4. We had 3, we asked if we could sit with him and he agreed. One from my party of three approached this owner/manager George?? And said the gentleman said we could sit with him but we needed 1 chair. We were told that since we walked in we had given that Geoege a headache and we were bugging him about why we werent seated. He said you arent going to be seated anywhere. He refused to let us sit with that single man at a 4 top table. Needless to say, words were passed and we left. When we got there, I had asked a very nice young man if our table was in the main dining room and he said yes. This place was not prepared for the crowd of people who showed up for this fabulous entertainer. And unfortunately messed up reservations and let usual customers go in to sit and blew off some people who actually had a reservation from over a month ago. We werent the only ones. This place is very unprofessional. Friends who actually were seated after my table was told, there were no seats available did sit in main dining room and waited 2 hours for their food and had to go to the bar to order two rounds of drinks. They were unprepared and rude. I was also told that there were too many people allowed in the place, people everywhere standing near tables, people tried to eat and they didn't even have space to cut their food. People stated that it was a fire hazard and should have been shut down. I had visited Donny Gs previously and was not impressed, I decided to go back for the sole reason to see my friend Tony entertain. This place is a joke, to be accused of giving this George a headache because of asking when we would be seated when we were there approximately 45 mins to an hour, well sorry. My personal opinion is this place is not worth going into unless you are a usual customer because they will treat you...
Read moreItalian restaurant in Elmwood Park, that's been around for decades. Good food , nice ambience and good service!
The Italian bread and dip( parmesan cheese mixed with olive oil and a little pepper flakes) are goooood!
For appetizers I started with 1/2 dozen Baked Clams- Whole littleneck clams on the half shell, topped with seasoned breadcrumbs, fresh herbs, garlic, , they were on the smaller side which I assume maybe because they're not in season- they were ok, I'll pass on these next time & then I also ordered
the Pasta Fagioli soup, which is Cannellini beans, small tubular pasta, and plum tomatoes in a light savory tomato broth with garlic and olive oil, very GOOD! You must try this !! Annnnnd I also ordered the
Caprese Salad-thick sliced tomatoes, bocconcini cheese, and fresh basil drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar😋😋😋
You can never go wrong with a caprese salad and here it's very good too
So for dinner I chose the
Rigatoni pasta with crumbled spicy sausage, tomato, and marjoram in a creamy sauce topped with parmesan. And let me tell you, this was a winner for me! & my dinner partner ordered the Salmon Lemon Butter W/Spinach- Salmon fillet in a lemon butter sauce, served with sauted spinach.. omg this was SOOO good. A must to order it you like good Salmon !!
To finish we ordered the in house made canoli- which was good too but the winner had to be the Lemon sorbet... nice and refreshning after a great meal!
They just recently started opening for breakfast so I'll definately be coming back to try that out and give a review of that in the near future!

Read moreWe had our wedding reception at Donny G’s. We had about 60 people (it holds more) and the entire restaurant. Everything was beautiful. Anything you need Donny will arrange it for your occasion...flowers, music, microphone etc All of our guests RAVED about the food including a 90-year-old Italian woman that never complements any food from restaurants! Donny had appetizers ready for the guests and then we did buffet style for the main dishes. He put out a variety of all their amazing desserts and sang his favorite songs while everyone was enjoying their desserts. Donny is a true entertainer and got all the guests engaged and singing. After our party we had 3 guests who are currently planning their own wedding thinking of now having it at Donnie G’s instead of the traditional banquet hall style. The owners and Donny G truly want you to have an exceptional experience. Thank you Donny G and the great staff for making our day special. Ivan and Irene...
