Well I grew up in Chicago ordering some of the best thin crust pizza ever as a kid in the '80s and 90s. I moved to Melrose Park 21 years ago and there's definitely some pizza places around here. I used to eat Armand's pizza years ago but since they moved it seems like they lowered their quality and everything and I'm not going to spend all that money for something that isn't the best anymore.
So one day I was over at Harlo grill in the back at their bar and the bartender Tony ordered an Old world Pizza in the minute I tasted it I couldn't believe that it tasted and reminded me of all the greatest pizzas in Chicago that I grew up with eating.
So now for the last year and a half I've been ordering old world thin crust extra large sausage and green pepper.
This pizza is so delicious and such a well made pizza that the next day when it's cold and I work as an electrician so I don't have options to heat it up in an oven and you don't usually heat up pizza in a microwave cuz to me that's sacrilegious and you ruin the quality of the crust.
So basically when I bring a whole bag of slices of pizza and I'm eating it cold in my coworker see me they're always interested in wondering if it's good or where I got it from. The one day I probably bought about 10 slices mainly corner crust pieces in a couple metals and I remember this guy puts a red pepper flakes on there and ate it and couldn't believe how good it was even cold which is my favorite thing the next day.
so after eating all these different pizzas around Melrose Park I would never go anywhere else ever again except for old world Pizza who's got the best thin crust pizza I've ever tasted around here.
Besides the driver's always being quick and always super friendly and nice.
Thanks old world please never change your quality or anything about your sauce or anything cuz that's what keeps guys like me wanting to keep ordering extra large pizzas constantly.
Now I want to damn pizza again even though I ate one this...
Read moreI have been here multiple times and quite frankly won’t be coming back. Let me start by saying the food is fantastic, but if you don’t have basic customer service skills, you will lose me and a lot of other clients. First, I call, and the women who answered placed me on hold before I even heard what she said. After waiting ten minutes she answers and goes straight to asking me what I wanted. Didn’t apologize for the long wait or anything. Second, I go to pick up my order. I walked in and saw(African American woman) her by the cash register, waited a whole minute and said hello to her. She didn’t acknowledge me as I entered and was more pre occupied with whatever task she had. Tells me she’ll be right with me. She then proceeds to pack other orders in front of me having me wait, and it’s not only after five minutes of standing there she asks if I was picking up. I proceed by giving her my name as she walks away and goes to the kitchen. She comes back and says, you still have five minutes. I take out my wallet and I’m ready to pay and she not only doesn’t pay me any mind but starts packing up another salad. I’m like, literally I’m the only client in front and you can’t even charge me for the food I’ve been patiently waiting for. I walked away and won’t be coming back. With the last few years being as rough on the restaurant business as it has been, I can’t believe one, she would be hired for this type of job ( customer facing) and two, either she’s inadequate to do this or didn’t receive basic training. Both, faults of the establishment. And quite frankly, pizza restaurants are a dime a dozen and if you’ve lost me, I could only imagine how many more...
Read moreI've had Chicago " Deep dish" pizzas before, yet none which were authentic. Having never lived in or near Chicago and grown up eating Long Island, New York Napoletano, or Neapolitan/Sicilian style pizzas in both Manhattan[ New York, NY] and on Long Island, as well as Greek Deep Dish pizza in Connecticut, little did I know what the real deal tastes like. Driving across the country in March 2010 and checking out Chicago, I drove west from Lakefront Park [ Lincoln Park] through the seedier areas of Chicago and then into suburban Elmwood Park; looking for that original Chicago Pizza. I found it! There it was, right next to a Blockbuster Video at the corner of State Routes 64 & 43. Ordering the big pie for $17.95 with just cheese, was I in for a surprise! I'm one who can easily scoff down a NY Style Neapolitan and hadn't eaten all day. However, eating in, this pie was so THICK I ate three slices and asked for the box. I still had some leftover cold [ but good] pizza when I got to Western New York two days later. Old World Pizza is the deal, better than good enough to make Papa John Schnatter go to China and sell his...
