La Costa Mexicana Restaurant — Restaurant in Liberty

As with others, we have given this place much business over the years. However, I tip for good service. I will even tip for average to poor service because we all have our off days. But when I get no service at all, I will not be tipping that. We like to go around 4:00 p.m. and for some reason we have landed the same sullen waiter our last three visits who appears wanting to be any place but his job. I attributed the first two times as just bad luck. However, today was the worst. This guy seemed as if I were the biggest inconvenience to seat. Keep in mind this is around 4:00 p.m. when there are only a handful of other customers, but what appears to be plenty of staff. After being seated, we had the usual chips and salsa served after about 10 minutes. Another 10 minutes went by without any service. We finally had to flag another server down to ask for our waiter to come take our order. He did promptly appear after that request. Our orders were placed, the food, which is still pretty good, was delivered in a reasonable amount of time, then we saw no hide nor hair of our waiter again until he brought the check. In the meantime, I had gone to the bar to get a soda refill and a take-home box since our waiter never showed up for us to make that request. Maybe the owner will see this review and have an intervention with this waiter because I certainly don't think their business should suffer because of one individual. I certainly hope there is nothing outside of work that this individual is going through that is causing him to act this way at work. I believe in second third and fourth chances, but after that if you have been offered help and still have not improved, you become a liability to a business. We initially were really excited to try this place out as we had a couple different people tell us how good it was. Simply put, it was the first and last time we will ever be going here for a meal. The only good thing about our dinner was the chips and salsa, and the cheese dip. For starters when we came inside, we stood by the "host" stand (if you want to even call it that because they don't seem to have a host/hostess) for about 10 minutes before anyone even spoke to us. When they did speak to us finally, it was just to tell us it would be 5 minutes and then he walked away. We weren't seated for another 10-15 minutes, and they almost skipped over us completely because they didn't even know who they spoke to first. By this time there were about 10 people behind us also waiting for a table. If they truly were jam packed i would have been more understanding, but half the tables were empty and just not cleared off yet. Once we were seated we just tried to figure out what we wanted as quickly as possible so we could get out of there. Our server was super short with us and never refilled our drinks. After we got our food we weren't spoke to again until long after we had both finished eating and once we got the check we waited again for another 10-15 minutes before anyone came to take our payment. In addition earlier in the day I had made a quick call in to see if they did reservations. The lady on the phone seemed pissed she had to speak to me at all. I said I wanted to make a reservation, and she didn't even take my name and hung up on me when I went to give it to her. WAY better places in the area to get reasonably priced and better serviced...

First time visit, highly recommended by a friend. Food was excellent and the drinks as well. The host was friendly as well as the initial server (the one who serves chips and salsa), however the main server Ashley Nuñez is clearly not a people person, she was rude from the very beginning. We noticed she was very friendly with others, we have never met or seen her before today.

She took our order but did not bother to ever come back and check how we were doing, on the contrary she would skip our booth and then out of nowhere halfway into our meals she quickly drops off the check and takes off. Never bothered to ask if we needed anything else as if she was in a rush to get us out. Let me add that it was not busy at all during our visit! We were in fact planning to have a couple of more drinks but she ruined that for us. I hope management (whoever is above her) reads these reviews and consider re-evaluating whether she is fit or not to serve people. Servers are the face of your business and therefore, the ratings are based on how they treat your customers.

We do plan to visit again because of the great atmosphere, food and drinks but I will specifically ask to not sit at her section.
