First, I've been going to this store since the the mid-70's, back when the food was good and the lines went out the door. I remember when they had to add the extra dining space on the Taco Bell side.
That said, tonight we went in to dine; I really like A&W Root Beer and this is the closest location that has it. It was just my wife and I.
As we were waiting to place our order, the front counter person seemed confused: were we there for a pickup order or were we dining in? There were 2 of us, so I thought it should be self-obvious, but in today's DoorDash and UberEats days, who knows?
Both of us went simple with our orders, a #1 (2 fish, 2 hushpuppies, and fries). We were asked for sides, and one chose green beans and one chose corn. We were asked if we wanted drinks, which should have come with the meal we ordered. The counter person rung up 4 drinks total, which he realized was wrong. When the person in charge came out to help him remove those from the order, that person realized our drinks were supposed to be with our meal.
We got our cups, filled our drinks (I asked for a frosty mug but never got it; oh well), got our condiments, and sat down.
After a few minutes I went back up to see if our food was ready. The front counter person seemed confused: was I here for a DoorDash order? No. Is your order to go? No. Do you have your order number? NO, you never gave me the receipt, just the credit card slip. What did you order? 2 number ones, one with corn and one with green beans.
Long story short, these questions were asked several times, over and over, and it took just at 20 minutes for us to get our food. Both came with corn, but I got that traded out.
The food was warm but not hot. It had been sitting on the counter under the heat lamp since the first time I went up to check on the status of our order, but I had been told several times that what I was seeing was for someone else, and ours was being made fresh.
This was, needless to say, a disappointing visit. Due to dietary restrictions, I haven't been many times since Long John Silver removed the baked/grilled fish from the menu (I'm not a fan of Salmon, which they still have grilled), so this was a rare occasion to go there. We used to go often, 1-2 times a month, but not recently.
I'm debating when or if I will return. They have work to do on their "Fast Food" delivery. I'd hated to have been a customer in the drive-thru tonight; there were many to-go boxes lining the counter under the heat lamp, and I didn't see any of them leave.
BTW, tried the LJS experience on the website, but since I was never given a receipt I didn't have the store number to put in the website. If you don't have the store number, you can't use the website to express your concerns. The page to look up the store number? You need your store number to look up the store number....
Read moreFirst takeout eve, ordered online, but they closed early. They took my money for a family pack, but they were closed. There were people inside, but they ignored my knocking. Called the next day and asked if they were closing early. They advised that they were not. I explained what happened, and the male subject advised me to come in, and he would have the chicken ready. He stated that he would throw in a couple of extra pieces of chicken and cheesecake. My daughter went to pick it up and waited an hour and 15 minutes. She was asked 3 times, "What is your order?" And only 3 other customers came in that entire time. She brought the order home, and there were 6 pieces of fish and 2 pcs of chicken. It's just the opposite of what i ordered. We had ordered 6 pcs of chicken and 2 PC fish in our family pack. There also was not the extra chicken nor the cheesecake, as promised. I tried calling but did not get an answer. A couple of days later, I realized that I had never spoken with anyone so stooped by to complain. The lobby was full of people, and I couldn't even make it to the counter. A man had told me he was waiting for around one hour. Another man was given his order just then, and I mentioned he should check it before leaving. He pulled things out of his bag and stated, "Well, here is an empty box!" I knew this was not the day to complain as the only person in sight working looked like a young guy in desperate need of help. We complained the first eve to corporate by email and have not heard anything back. LJS has gone downhill, and I will not...
Read moreI believe the reviews wish I had! I normally shy from reviews because I feel like people have bad experiences. The first thing they do is write a review, but the reviews pretty much on point this location was horrible, was really looking forward to getting some fish for my cheat day, so I was excited to finally treat myself. I had been thinking about this meal for a while, but I was left very disappointed with the service.
The woman who took my order was kind and professional, but my experience quickly went downhill after that. When I asked the gentleman at the window if I could have some sauces, he responded with a terrible attitude. He snatched my bag, slammed the drive-through window shut, and aggressively tossed the sauces into the bag like it was a problem for me to even ask. It was extremely rude and uncalled for.
To make matters worse, his apron was filthy—covered in what looked like fish batter or grease. Honestly, I’m not even sure someone in that condition should be working the window at all.
Not to mention, the fish itself was disappointing. It was only half-battered, looked like it had been sitting for a while, and definitely didn’t seem fresh.
The outside of the building was also very dirty, which was surprising. Given that this is Liberty, I expected the location to be cleaner and better maintained.
Unfortunately, this entire experience was enough for me to decide that I won’t be returning. Very...
