The food was the worst aspect of the experience. The ramen was in a MASSIVE bowl that was mostly broth, so that all the toppings were drowned under it. The toppings are meager, you only get to choose a few, and there are nonsensical ideas like kimchi (and broccoli if I recall correctly) being listed as a protein option rather than a topping, and you have to pay a dollar extra for any topping beyond 3, which are meager things like a couple tablespoons of corn or some green onion slices. The menu pictures all show some sort of greens like spinach on the ramen, but no such option existed on the menu. The tonkatsu tasted decent. Some of the toppings were alright in flavor, others just bland. The prices are pretentiously HIGH, more expensive than authentically Japanese owned and operated KC Craft Ramen out in Overland Park, which is currently the crown jewel of ramen in the KC metro. The quality is worse than Komatsu, who some of you might remember near the Plaza a few years ago. It went out of business for good reason.
Maybe their poke is better, but to be honest I wouldn't trust it based on the ramen experience. I'm tired of spending $20 on a mediocre meal. I can't justify returning to places like this. It feels like just another place just cashing in on the popularity of Japanese food lately and not giving it the quality it deserves.
There were far too many staff at a very unbusy time for it to be self-service ordering (on touch screen kiosks) and a robot serving your food (it went to the wrong table, and I had to get up and carry my food over to mine). It didn't seem like there was any reason to have so many people working there. They seemed kind of idle and looking for something to do. Felt awkward. If you're gonna make the customer do everything themselves, idk, at least look like you have something more important to do?
I hate that it went this way, but it is what it is. I just wish Liberty could get its head on straight and open more amazing businesses like HomeGrown Kitchen next door, where clearly care is taken toward the menu, the prices, the food, service, atmosphere, proportions, all of which I feel QZ struck out on. Won't be surprised to see this restaurant space turn over as quickly as...
Read moreThis location is once again, a fight for survival! This was our first visit to this chain, so no expectations! My biggest question: WHY TIP???? You enter the establishment and start ordering on the kiosks while the employees stand around and attempt to solve a rubik's cube or play with a deck of cards and visit with one another! Kind of irritating since there was no chance to ask for a help or speak to anybody! We ordered our food then one of the workers, not looking up, yells, "grab a number!" Never a conversation of anything! We sat at a table and served ourselves and a robot brought our food, which was exciting for the kids to interact, but obviously ahs made the employees a bit on the lazy side! The food was ok, not impressed, but the kids enjoyed the experience! As the kids were getting drink refills the "rubik's player" said , "you put your dirty dishes in the bin!" Wow! A different worker appeared out of the back of the employee are and pushed the dirty dishes cart around and did his job smiling at us a couple times! It was clean, with plenty of open seating. I won't ever be back, but the kids enjoyed their meal! Parking is full most of the time so you will have to walk around long or short ways! Free parking lot! I wasn't impressed by the entire experience and severly disappointed by the...
Read moreMy husband and I came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. There was a good amount of people there but I wouldn't say they were super busy. We got 2 appetizers and both ordered ramen bowls. We both added 3 toppings that it let us choose and my husband added 2 additional toppings for $1 each. Although our meat, noodle and broth choices were correct, that's literally all we got. I didn't have a single topping in mine other than the noodles and meat and same goes for my husband, even though he even paid extra for more. They did add Cilantro to his so I guess he did have one additional topping, although he did not order Cilantro at all. My husband also ordered medium spicy because you could pick your spice levels and he said there was no spice at all. It tasted good and we didn't want to go through the hassle of getting it remade so I'm not sure how well their problem/resolution is but the staff seemed friendly. Food taste was good and the little robot delivering the food was fun so I did give it 3 stars still but due to the amount of money we paid and not getting any toppings at all, I'm not sure if we will return. It was a pretty disappointing...
