Been coming to LC for about 25 years now and this is only the second time I’ve been here.
They must have changed chefs or cook lines in the last 12 years or so… because the the entire experience was dramatically better and the quality of food and cooking was vastly superior to the last time i was here.
We got a bunch of stuff to try that should be good for a beach restaurant; oysters on the half shell, oyster shooters, crab cocktail, fish and chips, clam chowder, seafood salad… beach stuff!
Pro’s: All of the fresh seafood was very good. Freshly shucked oysters for the shooters, gigantic portions of dungeoness crab legs and lump. Clams in the thick and smooth chowder tasted like they were not from a can and they were generous with the amount of clams. The bay shrimp on the salad was plentiful, but definitely frozen and the fish and chips were the standout part of the meal!!! The Halibut was 35$ but you get what you pay for… The halibut was cooked expertly… light and flaky. The batter is not like a beer batter that a centimeter thick. It was light and crispy, almost like a tempura. the french fries/chips were the best I’ve had on the Oregon coast. Period! They were doubled fried and very crispy with great seasoning and all came out piping hot. And they had the best tartar sauce. I’ve had at the beach as well.
The con’s: terrible ketchup cocktail sauce, sugar in the mignonette for the oysters on the half shell, standard bottled ranch dressing for the salad and way too much bacon in the...

For starters, we decided to grab a drink at the bar while we waited for a table. My Manhattan had a BUG in it! I returned it to the bar and they made some excuse about the flies being bad tho I'd not seen any. They remade my drink....and it had ANOTHER BUG in it. I once again returned it and this time the bar tender decided the vermuth was bad and needed thrown out. (That's comforting) when my drink was remade a 3rd time and delivered to me, the bar tender said conversationally that there was tons of trash under the bar and the fruit flies were so bad they were trying to work with their mouths closed to avoid accidentally getting any in their mouth! gag
We were called notifying us that our table was ready and when we checked in at reception, we were rudely ignored and stood there for several minutes not even being acknowledged.
The food was about as expensive as you might expect for a place trying to be "fine dining" $70+ for lobster - which ended up being flavorless and rubbery - but hey, at least no bugs. And my friend's steak was $50+ but was tough, bland, and chewy even tho she ordered it medium rare.
It was bar none, the worst dining experience of my life and I would strongly recommend a truck stop deli sandwich...
Read moreAfter spending an amazing day at the beach with my daughter in law and my 2 small dogs who were secured in a pet stroller we decided to gamble for a while and then have some fish and chips. We entered the restaurant and the hostess asked me if my dogs were service animals which I replied no but they were fully secured in a stroller. She stated that the dogs could not eat or drink in the restaurant which was fine. They were very quiet. She seated us in a location where the stroller would be out of the way and we were brought menues, silverware and water. All of a sudden we were surrounded by security and told we had to leave. I work for a security company in Portland and we were made to feel like criminals in a full restaurant of patrons. If the hostes would have just came to our table and said sorry I made a mistake seating you and can't serve you because your animals are not service dogs we would have understandably left, but no, we were escorted out of the restaurant by 2 security guards and a manager.and told by security thanks for being so understanding. Sorry I didn't want my dogs to die in a hot car while we ate. The point is the hostess should have just said sorry can't serve you. It was totally unnecessary to surround our table like that. Will not...
