McCaffery's Bar — Restaurant in Lincoln Park

Will NEVER attend this establishment.

They sponsored a Southgate girl's summer slow-pitch softball them in 2014. Not sure whose idea it was for the bar/restaurant to do a 'fly-by' with their banner and an attached banner saying "GO (the team they were sponsoring)," on Friday, July 18th, for a third of the first play-off game their team was participating in, but it was a HORRIBLE display of POOR SPORTMANSHIP.

That fly-by and sign was designed to distract the other team (hard to not notice a small, loud plane doing circles around your softball field with a sign that is basically saying they hope your team loses), and throw them off their game - which it did indeed do.

We are talking about a summer league of teen girls, ranging in age from 13 to 17! Who at this bar thought something so MEAN was a good idea? If the coach(es) paid you, I hope the money was worth knowing you contributed to one of the worst displays of bad sportmanship any of the parents and other coaches in attendance have EVER seen. If it was YOUR idea, and you paid for it, please think again before you do your best to ruin another team's chance of winning an important game.

I have never been in your establishment. I will never step foot inside of it now. And I am not the only person - your business 'hurt' a dozen girls, and upset their parents, relatives, and family friends in attendance...not to mention the other coaches who had stopped by to watch the game. Do you think any of them will patronize your...

Soup: Wisconsin cheddar soup and Broccoli cheddar soup are not the same thing, overly salty fairly cold VERY thin. Protip when making soup with veggies DONT add the veggies before freezing the soup add them in fresh AFTER thawing. (That’s why your soup looks grey and the broccoli is wilty and brown)

Appetizers: Pretzel bites when deep fried are more like croutons than pretzels. Also the cheese sauce for dipping? Can it actually be hot all the way through?

Entrees: Bland and cold. Again why is it so hard to get HOT food. Roast beef was dry and irregularly heated I feel fairly confident that it was heated in a microwave before being plated but can’t confirm it.

Do we see a pattern here I hope so… food should be HOT bar food shouldn’t take 45+ minutes to get to the table. Servers the bar is slow get on the kitchen with table status, check your food before serving.

Pricing was all over the place. Almost 9.00 for the soup but only 11 for the roast beef sandwich? Makes no sense at all.

Also don’t call it coke if it’s not coke. And what ever is coming out of that gun is most definitely not coke. Margarita was mostly sour and very little tequila, used pretzel salt instead of course bar salt....

I recently visited with high hopes, but unfortunately, my experience was a letdown. The food was very subpar and overpriced, which was a significant disappointment. However, the service was acceptable, with our waitress being friendly and attentive.

However, there was a major issue with our waitress's hygiene. She was eating chips and dip with her fingers all in her mouth while serving us, which was unsettling and unappetizing. This lack of professionalism made it challenging to enjoy our experience.

To make matters worse, there was an unexpected charge of 3% on our credit card bill that was not disclosed on the menu I had or discussed during checkout. This lack of transparency was frustrating and felt deceptive.

McCaffery's has a lot of potential, but it needs significant management improvements to address these issues. Until then, I would caution others to think twice...
