This place came highly recommended by a customer of mine so I decided to have a go. I was seated withing a couple minutes and received my traditional chips and salsa right away with a glass of water. The salsa was runny and literally had 1 single tomato Chunk in it, but lots of onions and cilantro. I took the time to look through the menu and I knew what I was going to eat within a few minutes. Things were a bit slow and the place was maybe 30% full at best. The waitress returned 11 minutes later and asked if I wanted anything to drink, but I told her I was just going to drink the water. She quickly turned and walked away even though I thought it was apparent that I was ready to order. 17 minutes later I was finally able to place my order (Fiesta Enchilada with chicken and a Chili Relleno). To my surprise my food was out rather quickly all things considered, but at this point I had already been there for 45 minutes. I let things cool off for about 5 minutes as I finished my bean dip, which was the best part about this experience other than the clean cold water. My first bite was of the Chili Relleno, which I feel is a good gauge of the quality of a Mexican restaurant, and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The egg coating had a terrible flavor, but I decided to give it a second chance as I had just finished my onion based salsa. Upon the second bite I realized I had made a mistake and did not want to finish. I decided to try and eat the cheese filling, it was nice and thick, creamy white BUT it had ZERO flavor, literally none. I pushed it aside and cut into my Enchilada that seemed to be covered in a store bought Tex-Mex style of cheese. It looked as if it came straight out of the jar in the Mexican isle your local grocery store. So I cut into my Enchilada and it's full of beef and not chicken, not a big deal but I wanted chicken. So another 15 minutes goes by and I'm finally able to track down my waitress and explained the situation. She looked at my plate and said "You've already eaten it" but I explained I would pay for the Relleno even though it was garbage. She had to go get her manager who tried to make me feel as if I didn't know what I was talking about on the Relleno. I explained to him I order it everywhere and what I was served was terrible, it had an off texture and the flavor was awful. He came back a few minutes later and offered me more food as a replacement but I ended up leaving without paying after confirming with the manager that I was not to pay for the food. If you've made it this far in the review I will admit maybe someone was having a bad day but all in all I will not be visiting this...
Read moreHacienda Real is my go to place for Mexican food in Lincoln. Today I was so disappointed in the service. When we walked in there was probably 3 or 4 tables and no one in the bar. We stood for a while waiting to be seated and watched as the staff stood around and visited. No one acknowledged us for some time. When someone did come to seat us we asked to sit in the bar. Again we waited while the staff socialized. Our waitress came over and took our drink order and brought us menus. After we received our chips it was quite some time before our waitress came back to take our order. Another lady came by carrying a silverware tray and put two sets of silverware and one napkin in front of me and then came back by and tossed a second napkin in the middle of the table. Our food came and was hot and tasted amazing. Our waitress just sat the food down and walked away. After we finished eating, we waited for a while until she came back. We asked for to go boxes and the check. She brought them back and sat them on front of us and turned around and left without speaking with us. We put our cards in the folder and again, she picked then up without acknowledging us. She brought them back and tossed both of them in the middle of the table. She is lucky we left her a tip at all. I hope she knows she received half of what I would have left her. If this had been my first time visiting this establishment it would be my last. I will give them another chance but to say I am disappointed is an understatement. The staff never stopped visiting in the bar and I believe only one additional table came in...
Read moreFinally, I found a well rounded Latin comida Cantina in the Good life state. The Salsa has such an ideal savory flavor. Nice touch of spice that's comfortable to the tongue & well balanced. It's spice doesn't go too far & quite complimentary to the Rancheras Enchilades. The Enchilades meat and shell were quite fresh and the red sauce was quite zesty with a satisfying richness topped of with a fried overeasy egg that was a nice gastronomic touch . The Comida was very delicious and visually appealing, even the egg had a culinary artistic grill mark on it. I wish I would have taken a photo of the dish. I highly recommend Haciendas Real. I'm not the most cultured person in the world but I have dined in some of the best Latin restaurants in Utah, Texas, Great Columbian basin & Northern & some southern California Cantina's and the Hacienda could hold it's own amongst most of them ( It would be very hard to compete with many of the latin based restaurants in SOCal. That would be an unfair task for any restrauntier to achieve that exquisite level outside of that culturally rich & vibrant latin food environment ). Now the consistently nationally ranked Red Iguana in Salt Lake is overrated imo. This Hacienda Real comida is more gastronomically enjoyable than the overly uncomfortably spicey...
