My daughters and I came to a movie here on the morning of Jan 15. I have never, ever, been told that my bag needs to be checked until this day. Your "assistant manager" Jessica was completely rude to me. I asked her when the bag policy started and she said it's always been that way. My family and I went to six movies between the middle of December and the middle of January and I brought a bag to each one and it wasn't checked. The reason I bring a bag is because my daughter, who has Down syndrome, has a very particular diet. She doesn't eat popcorn or sweets or any of the other foods offered for sale at the theater. My bag contained two pieces of bread for her to eat during the movie, while the rest of us enjoyed our immensely overpriced popcorn. Jessica told me I couldn't take the bag back to the theater with me. I'd either have to leave it there with her or take it back out to my car in the freezing single digit weather. I told her I've lived in this town for over 50 years and I've never had my bag checked and confiscated. She said she's worked there for 10 years and they've always checked bags. An argumentative outright lie. She needs to be reminded how to talk to a paying customer if she's going to be working with the public. South pointe also needs to revisit their bag policy. I might have been bringing in bread for my daughter, but I was still planning to buy expensive popcorn and Icees. I've spent a lot of money at Marcus this past month and I don't appreciate being treated like this. Also, we were at the 11:30 movie and when we went to leave, the garbage can was so full and overflowing, I couldn't even throw my...
Read moreWe've been coming to Marcus South Pointe since last June and it's been a wonderful experience. However, I deduct one star because of their popcorn in recent months. While not an issue in the past, in our last few visits, we've been refused fresh/hot popcorn, told it will take 20 minutes (really only about 7), or lied to saying it is fresh when it's not (because bags of old popcorn are mixed with fresh ones). Today, we dealt with it, got frustrated because it stuck to our teeth, didn't eat it, and then led to a cascade of missing part of the movie when going back to buy other foods. For being such a highly profitable item, I'm surprised Marcus South Pointe won't just deliver fresh/hot popcorn to your seat, like they do with all their other delicious and hot items. Anyways, I hope they can change their policy and fulfill customers request to enjoy fresh/hot popcorn without customers having to feel ashamed or guilty for asking. Aside from this recent policy change, the rest is amazing and highly...
Read moreI went there alone to watch the movie cocaine bear one time. Purchased my ticket, showed my ID when purchasing beer. The entire staff for some reason was looking at me weird. I shook it off thinking it's all in my head. A few minutes into the movie someone came up to me and asked me if I had purchased a ticket. Loud enough to cause awkward stares from others. I thought in my head, I purchased it from you all when I got here? There were others watching the movie in the same theater, none were asked the same question. Just me in particular. I didn't argue and just showed the ticket. The kid left with visible disappointment as if he wanted to do something to me if I didn't have a ticket. I could sense the entire staff outside the theater looking at me and judging me after the movie was over. Was not a good experience and have not gone since. I am 5"3' asian. I wonder if they saw a small man and decided he is eligible for bullying. It really was a matter of being judged for...
