I’ve been a dedicated supporter of Honest Abe’s for several years, but my recent visit to the North location left me utterly disheartened. The string of disappointments during my visit truly tarnished my perception of this once-beloved establishment.
To begin with, I encountered a baffling situation when I attempted to receive a receipt for my order. The staff member at the counter prematurely closed the receipt option just before I could finalize it, leaving me with no evidence of my transaction. This lack of accountability was concerning and set the tone for the rest of my visit.
The absence of effective management was palpable throughout my time there. Despite no visible line, my food took a staggering 40 minutes to arrive, even though I was initially told it would be ready sooner. To make matters worse, the kitchen staff seemed more interested in casual chatter than in efficiently preparing orders. I observed them playfully interacting, and even witnessed the person at the register engrossed in her phone while neglecting her responsibilities.
Finally, when my order was at last ready, I was dismayed to discover that essential items were missing. No ranch dressing, straw, or milk accompanied my meal. More troublingly, despite my courteous approach to the staff about the oversight, there was no apology or even acknowledgment of the error. It’s disheartening to see such disregard for customer satisfaction.
My experience reached its low point when I found my burgers to be drastically undercooked, with some parts even bordering on medium rare. This level of food safety negligence is entirely unacceptable and has left me feeling quite unwell.
As someone who had been a loyal patron, I cannot help but express my profound disappointment. This single visit has significantly eroded my trust and loyalty towards Honest Abe’s - North. The combination of mishandled orders, lack of professionalism, and food safety issues have transformed me from a dedicated supporter into someone who is seriously reconsidering future visits.
I hope that sharing my experience will serve as a cautionary tale to others who may be contemplating dining at this location. This was not the Honest Abe’s that I once cherished, and I urge anyone reading this to think twice before patronizing this establishment after my deeply unsatisfactory encounter just...
Read moreThis was my first try here, after hearing positive comments about Honest Abe's from some acquaintances. Ordered "The United States of America" burger, the "Freedom fries" with the crispy option enabled, and a root beer float. Chose the option for curbside pickup. I arrive at the approximate time that was given for the order to be ready and replied to the text as it requests. I sit there for an additional 15 minutes watching people leave and go in. I understand they're busy but I call to see how much longer it would be for my order, and they tell me the order will be right out (and telling me when they brought it out that they were busy and couldn't see my car).
I drive home, less than 5 minutes, and am basically just greeted by disappointment. The fries were quite possibly some of the soggiest fries I've ever had, and were partially cold to boot. I didn't even eat most of them due to how unappetizing they were. The root beer float didn't come assembled, with the ice cream and root beer separated. The root beer also had ice in it, so I guess block the ice from falling into the ice cream as I try to mix them to make my float.
The burger was delicious, so I guess that was the saving grace. Overall, between the service, the disappointing fries, and the float not being a float but some ice cream and a root beer with ice, I'm not super keen on making this a retry. The burger was good, but this was a pretty sad experience for the once a week treat...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped by tonight on the way home from watching a University of Nebraska gymnastic meet. So just a few minute drive from the Arena.
I love burgers and have become a pretty good judge of them and most of my review will most likely be a burger place.
This is one of the Top 5 burgers tasting I have ever had!! Great tasting meat for sure.
My wife and I both had the Hammer of Thor burger- chipotle cream cheese / griddled brussels sprouts / bacon mayonnaise / pepper jack cheese - allergies: dairy / egg / soy
Great tasting meat like I said earlier. The chipotle was just a hint of spice and the Brussels sprouts were grilled and crispy on the edges like they should be. Great tasting bun as well and nicely stacked so nothing was falling out when it arrived at the table. Nothing worse then all the toppings coming out the side or not even under the bun :-)
Also we got Parmesan truffle tots and Parmesan truffle fries. They were good but noting to rave about. Maybe I would say the tots were better if i had to choose.
My wife got the gluten free bun ( because she needs to eat gluten free) and it was a bun if you have it have one.
The meat was a 5 star! The fries were a 4 star Friendly staff a 4.5 and cleanliness was the area that can use some help. Table, floor and restroom were in need of...
