I don't write many reviews, mostly because people expect a 5 star just for existing, and others treat anything other than 5 stars a dump. Some travelers have just one thing not go perfect and justify themselves rating it 1 star. For hotel stays, I review from the perspective someone disabled traveling solo. Many hotels design their accessible rooms for someone traveling with someone they are caring for, and that makes it more difficult for someone disabled traveling alone. There were several features that made my stay here noteworthy. The accessible room was closest to the front desk. I have seen hotels with these the farthest away, and using an alternate entrance. The room was arranged for someone in a wheelchair to access everything. The door to the bathroom slides into the wall. Everywhere else, the 42 inch wide door is difficult to open, and if left open, creates a blockage to the exit. The sink is in the the bathroom. One stop shopping. Full length hand rails everywhere. The towels are by the shower. They don't have to be placed on the floor to be made reachable. Most hotels place them above the toilet, and they could accidentally fall in there. The roll-in shower accommodates someone in a wheelchair, whether solo or being assisted. They have a full size large capacity shower bench that can be moved anywhere. Most times, I bring my personal one or I have to ask if they have one. Some times there is a folding down bench at one end of a tub, with the controls at the other end. This is only good for someone being assisted. Adjustable shower head. They had a brand new magnetic device that was very easy to adjust and has no moving parts to wear out, and can use the same shower head found in other rooms. Other hotels I see a sliding mechanism that uses an el-cheapo shower head, and when that wears out, they replace it with a normal one with a hose, but nowhere to place it within reach while seated. I'm looking into purchasing one of these for my home. No small plastic containers for toiletries. Three dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and lotion attached to the wall within reach in the shower. Hand soap dispenser attached to the mirror by the sink. The rest of the hotel was clean and the breakfast in the morning appeared to be good, but I don't participate in those. I hope Wyndam takes note of this hotel, especially how accommodation and accessibility are designed and implemented as the...
Read moreThis trip was for a medical appointment for my friend who has recently been diagnosed with cancer. It was very stressful for him and for myself as well.
First, we were unable to find the hotel because all exterior signage was off as well as any building lighting! The area is dark and only lights were in the parking lot area, none of which reflected on the actual building. We drove by 5 times! When I mentioned that we had issues locating the property, the desk clerk was very unconcerned and laughed it off. Second, they wanted a $50 cash deposit. I wasn't overly concerned about it as we don't smoke inside at home and wouldn't smoke inside at a hotel. Imagine my surprise when after requesting a late check out so that my friend could get to and from his medical appointment and be able to shower afterwards, they kept my $50 deposit for staying an extra hour! No care or compassion for my friend who wanted to be able to shower off after being examined and having a sonogram done with that nasty, sticky gel. Manager pounded - not knocking like a civilized person - and announced that I had 10 minutes to clear out of the room. He claimed that he sent a text message stating that the request for late check out would cost me $50 for each and every hour (or fraction of) past the 11am checkout. Considering I only paid $70 (including taxes and fees) for the room, $50 per hour for a late check out is rediculous and excessive. The beds were comfortable and the linens were clean but the bathroom cleanliness left much to be desired. The corners had built up dirt and debris as well as spots throughout the floor that stuck to my socks the first time I walked in to use the commode. Would have asked for a different room were my friend not already asleep. When I mentioned it to the manager at check out, he wasn't concerned and didn't even respond to my comment. Not a great person for a management position in hospitality. Also, there were clothes, high heels and an alcoholic beverage container on a ac unit at the e d if the building and the secondary entrance to the property was not secured at 2 in the morning. There was what appeared to be construction debris in the hall just inside the secondary entrance and outside the door to the indoor pool, which was closed but the door wasn't secure either. Needless to say, we won't be staying with this property ever again, nor would I ever recommend it to anyone I...
Read moreHotels.com booked us cheaper than my Wyndham Rewards Account/App. Bummer of a weekend !Unfortunately, that was a 'triple digit temp- heat advisory' weekend causing numerous water puddles from the AC units. The lobby had large puddles and bugs (live and not) when I arrived at 230pm waiting for check in. The hotel needs work/ renovated/ updates but it was tolerable as always. The pool floor had pieces of the ceiling and or chipped off pool bottom that hurt my friends foot followed by both of my feet numerous times. No towel station or anything convenient/useful existed. Chunks of hair covered the floor near one seating space, dirty used towels and misc debris claimed the others. The pool ladder is extremely loose and dangerous! I learned that the hard way. The elevator was jumpy and didn't feel safe. Room 201 had a weird gross smell soon as you walked in. Wet towels that turned brown, bunched up near the AC unit that leaked water continuously, soaking the carpet along that half of the room. Assuming that's where the smell came from, and the heat, I only made one complaint about it. We were given 8 extra towels to use on the carpet.. which were no use. Nobody even checked it out or seemed to care. The wifi wouldn't work with my friends device. The bed, bedding, dangerous outlets, toilet seat, towels in bathroom, guest toiletries, etc were all displeasing. Hotel safety/security was awful. We were approached outside by a female carrying bags late one night after she first yelled and argued with the air about the pathetic flowers planted in the cement/side walk. She asked us for drugs as she plopped herself down in front of us, continuing to HOLD FULL CONVERSATIONS with herself using different names and voices.... I felt sorry for her and offered her a cig or a drink but she began saying things that made us grow increasingly uncomfortable so we wished her well and walked away trying to shut the door near the pool before she was able to follow us or do any harm other than...
