DONT PAY WITH A CHECK!!
My family and I have frequented Los Gallos for over a year and a half since moving to Lincoln, loves their food, so much so that we had them cater my daughters 2nd birthday party last September18 2021. Everything was great , we paid with a check and thought we were done……
Fast forward to this morning Aug 7,2022 and we woke up to find that they JUST cashed the check that we had written them. When looking at the check online we realized the date had been been changed from 9-18-21 to 7-18-22. So I took myself down to the restaurant after not being able to get in touch with the owner over the phone. One of the employees got in touch with him and he showed up shorty after with his wife. After explaining that I knew the check date had been changed they tried to explain that they lost the check and that the amount was the same and it was fine and that I was in some way out of line. Yes you were owed $380 , and you were paid when I picked up the food. The fact that you lost the check for a year doesn’t mean you can just change the date to make the check valid again and cash it without contacting me.
After the owner telling me that the check just cleared and that it was all a misunderstanding, they admitted to changing the date, then once I pointed out that I had never initialed the corrections the conversation ended and the owner handed me the $380 in cash.
We literally ate there or got takeout at least once a week and now with their not so honest behavior and arrogant attitudes this morning they have lost loyal customers that spread the word about their food to...
Read moreThis tiny restaurant next to the Beermann plaza can be easy to miss. From the outside the exterior looks like a little house. But they are a family ran taqueria serving up traditional, classic Mexican dishes. Overall, it's a solid dining option when I find myself in Lincoln.
The interior is smallish, with a dining area with about six 4 person tables and two 2 person tables. It's cozy for sure. I popped in for a late mid afternoon weekend lunch, so it wasn't busy.
The complimentary chips tasted and looked fresh fried. Crisp yumminess without the oiliness. The red salsa was delicious; flavorful with a bit of non spicy kick. The cerviche tostada was fantastic. Yum. Fresh flavors. It was a bit wet though, so I put a napkin underneath to soak up the wetness to slow down the tostada from getting overly wet and falling apart. The cerviche tostada was $5.99. The shredded beef in the crispy taco had good basic flavor. The one item combo with beans and rice is priced at $10.99, two items $12.99, and three...
Read moreAs a party of four, we waited about five minutes to be acknowledged and about 35 minutes for our food after we ordered. The table next to us was a party of seven, and they received their food before us - even though they came into the restaurant about ten minutes after we did. We didn't even get our drinks until we asked for them about 15 minutes after we ordered. With our drinks, the waitress delivered more chips.
The restaurant is small with six tables inside. Sounds reverberate off the floor and walls, so it is rather difficult to hold a conversation when the restaurant is at full occupancy.
While the food was very good, I wish I could say the food was worth the wait. The tamale barely had any meat in it - it was mostly the corn outer wrap. The taco was very good and the refried beans were hot. I might return someday just to try again with the how that today's visit was an anomaly, which is why I gave them three stars...
