I am changing my review. My initial experience was awesome and is included at the bottom.
Summary: food is great but the service is very bad.
I have now ordered takeout twice. The first time I was told 20 minutes. I showed up in 15 minutes and was told 5 more minutes. That's fine and what I expected. I proceeded to watch several people get they're orders and asked how much longer. 10 more minutes. Twenty minutes later I asked again and was told 10 more minutes. An hour after I showed up I got my order.
A couple weeks later (today) we tried again. This time it only took 40 minutes, not the 20 we were told. BUT, we discovered when we got home that we only got 3 entrees, not the 4 we ordered. We checked the receipt and it does not include everything we received much less what we ordered. Example we received 4 drinks and only 1 is on the receipt. It does not add up to what we were charged even if we adjust it for the drinks. I can only assume there is a second bag and receipt that was not delivered.
I've learned my lesson. DOUBLE CHECK before paying and leaving. They made you wait, they can wait while you verify.
Warning, it can take multiple calls to get through on the phone They are busy for supper.
Pro: Their food is great! There is a reason they are busy.
Cons: They cannot tell time and you cannot trust their estimates. You may not get all of your order.
Note to Mr. Hui. I know you are busy. Don't lie to me about the wait time. Be honest. If it is going to take you 1.5 hours to get my food to me, tell me!
Original Review
This was my first visit to this location. I have been to the second location several times. The place was very clean and well lit. The staff was friendly. The food was very tasty with each of the dishes having their own flavor. Portion sizes were respectable. Our food was fresh and hot. I actually liked this location over their southern location...
Read moreI have known about Mr. Hui's for almost a year because it's close to the Little King I frequently visited in 2022. In January 2023, I finally gave it a try. I decided to visit during my lunch, and I love Chinese food.
I was greeted right away when I walked in. There was a little confusion at first because the woman behind the counter thought I was there to pick up an order. After I ordered and let her know I was going to eat there, she had me seated in a booth. I ordered the Mongolian Beef lunch special.
I didn't have to wait long for the food. I asked for a glass of water to drink. I didn't get it right away, but the woman realized she forgot it and took it to me within a couple of minutes and apologized. Nice recovery. The lunch special came with some fried rice, an egg roll, and 2 crab ragoons. While I was there, I noticed that most customers were taking their orders to go. Maybe dinner time is different.
The quality of the food was good. Everything was hot and fresh. I also thought the portion size was perfect for lunch. I don't like eating so much for lunch that I want to take a nap during the 2nd half of a workday. The price was also very fair. Lincoln has been blessed with several good Chinese food restaurants, and this is one of them.
Since my first visit, I have been in several times and tried several of their lunch specials. I have been pleased with all of them. I also tried their different bubble teas. They are very good. Addictive even. This is not a place I would recommend if you only have a 30 minute lunch break though. I'm so glad I get an...
Read moreOrdered from there a bit ago. the food used to be really good and very worth its price but recently there's been a shift in the food. For starts, their steamed buns are still great, they're the only thing I would ever order. But other than that, their food is a weird mix of greasy, dry, salty and yet yet somehow not salty enough. Their food is bland, but has a weird buttery taste to it. Me and my family couldnt stomach it and had to toss it. I also ordered a milk tea from them but asked for no ice, and I wouldnt have minded if they hadn't filled up the cup all the way, I wouldnt have cared in fact thats common practice in other places, but, instead of that when I went to drink I was suddenly stopped by a weird blockage in my tea. Turns out they tossed in a slice of some fruit, I couldnt tell if it was a mango, peach, or whatever but it was certainly not part of the original milk tea, and I didnt ask for it. That struck me as sketchy, because I was never told of what was in my drink, so god knows what else they're slipping in behind the kitchen. tldr, food is bland and too expensive, shady practices, steamed buns are...
