Short review: Incredibly terrible service, the food is alright but there are better places for Ecuadorian food
Long review: where to begin. The first time my husband and I went the service was slow but the food was at least alright (he’s Ecuadorian so he approved) The second time around was awful: •We made a reservation for six at 7:30pm on a Saturday night. We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation, walked into the packed restaurant and everyone stared at us before someone came to help (there is no hostess stand so it was awkward) We were told they were full but we could wait until a table opened up. Lucky for us a table was just getting up, unlucky for us there was no place to wait while it was getting cleaned off so we had to wait outside in the cold. •Our waitress was nice but not sufficiently trained. She said it was her first day on the job and she didn’t seem to have knowledge on the plates, she had to ask us to describe what it was we were ordering…. •We then waited and watched as other tables who came in after us received the same food we ordered but before us. After almost a half an hour, I’m told the drink and the side I ordered had run out. Finally 45 minutes after our orders were taken, the first plate came out. The final plate was mine and it didn’t get to me until 1 hour and 20 minutes after the waitress took my order, and part of it ended up being burnt and I made my husband eat it because I could not stand the bad taste. •Finally we paid, but there were issues with wrong items being on our checks
I’m embarrassed for how bad the service was. I certainly don’t blame our waitress, I’m disappointed in the lady who I believe was the manager, because she let an untrained waitress work a six top table on her first night without any help. I witnessed as this manager laughed and took pictures with the other tables while our waitress appeared stressed out of her mind. We did have one kind gentleman (I believe he is the owner) who came to us and apologized a few times but unfortunately, with how bad the service was, the apologies made up for...
Read moreShort review: skip this one poor food, poor customer service. Only saw the waitress twice, first to take our order and second to take our money. I’d recommend mixturas in Orem.
Detailed review: we ordered the lomo saltado, pollo saltado, ceviche and the arroz chaufa all arrived cold to our table. The beef and chicken across all dishes was dry and felt like it was cooked the day before. The ceviche was the only thing that was warm that needed to be cold. Ceviche tasted fishy which mean the fish was not fresh. They serve it deconstructed which is not authentic. Some of the ceviche was served in a wine glass. The ceviche in the wine glass was grainy. We took a couple of bites and left it. At the end of our meal I told the waitress about the ceviche. She said she would let the cook know and because we didn’t leave 70% of the meal on the plate she couldn’t take the ceviche off the ticket. We told the waitress multiple times that I only ate two bites of fish. She refused saying we should have told her sooner. We only saw the waitress twice and she never came to our table to ask about the food. Instead came at the end to drop off the check. As a new business this is not a good way to start a business. Customer service was bad food was bad. I recommend mixturas in Orem over this place. Context my family is peruvian who has owned restaurants in Peru....
Read moreThis place is absolutely amazing! As someone who is originally from Ecuador, I can confidently say the flavors here are authentic and genuinely remind me of home. It’s like being transported back to Ecuador with every bite! I am beyond grateful to have found such an excellent Ecuadorian restaurant right here in Utah – it’s truly a gem for anyone looking to experience real Ecuadorian cuisine.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. Our waiter was super friendly, patient, and went above and beyond to explain the menu and make recommendations. It was clear he was passionate about the food and genuinely wanted us to have a great experience.
The service was not only friendly but also impressively fast. The food arrived quickly, and everything was fresh, warm, and beautifully presented. The flavors were spot-on.
Our absolute favorite dish was the Seco de Chivo – the seasoning, the tenderness of the meat, and the balance of flavors were perfect. But honestly, every single thing we tried was delicious and tasted homemade.
For anyone in Utah looking for an authentic Ecuadorian dining experience, this is the place! Thank you to the staff for making us feel so at home and for bringing a taste of Ecuador to Utah. We will definitely be back soon, and we’re already looking...
