Excellent service, great food! Super casual small diner restaurant with an attached bowling alley. Easy to get to off the main drag with a big parking lot. My breakfast was served promptly and hot. Very filling and excellent portion sizes. Good coffee as expected, with the server topping off cheerfully every now and then. She was super attentive, patient, and friendly. Very homey and familiar vibes with all the retro by-gone Chicago sports decor posted up or displayed on shelves. Several diners appeared to be regulars as they greeted both the cooks and server warmly. This is not your typical over the top, crowded, American breakfast chain restaurant with all that hustle-bustle chaos- and I'm glad to say that is exactly what gives it its charm. Wow, I’m definitely going to come back here. This is like an old school diner in the same building as a bowling alley. We went on a Sunday, it was easy to find parking and a table. The prices are a lot cheaper than all of those popular overpriced breakfast places. The service is super friendly and welcoming. Tables are plentiful. Food portions are more than generous. I ordered the ribeye steak and cheese omelet. I added spinach and mushrooms to the omelet for $2 more. I also ordered a chocolate chip pancake. The omelet will come with hash browns and 4 slices of toast. Ribeye steak was cooked perfectly - medium rare, it went well with the spinach and mushrooms. The chocolate chip pancake was so good, shareable for two people.

By the way, I would steer clear from those Karen reviews on Google and Yelp, they left 1-2 stars everywhere they go. No...

“JR’s Place” is fantastic! The pricing is super reasonable, and the menu offers great options without being overwhelming. Amanda made us feel right at home with her warm welcome. It’s a small, unassuming spot, and when I suggested to my brother that we check it out, we were a bit skeptical. But as soon as we stepped inside, we knew we’d found the perfect breakfast spot!

The total was $33 for the two of us, which is a great deal. If I hadn’t ordered extra pancakes, it would have been under $30! I can’t emphasize this enough—Amanda is amazing! She’s kind, friendly, keeps your coffee topped off, and ensures everything is just right. And the cook? Absolutely nailed the hash browns—actually crispy without even having to ask!
